Abraham Lincoln's Letter to His Son's Teacher

He will have to learn,

I know,

that all men are not just,

all men are not true.

But teach him also that

for every scoundrel there is a hero;

that for every selfish Politician,

there is a dedicated leader...

Teach him for every enemy there is a friend,

Steer him away from envy,

if you can,

teach him the secret of

quiet laughter.

Let him learn early that

the bullies are the easiest to lick...

Teach him, if you can,

the wonder of books...

But also give him quiet time

to ponder the eternal mystery of birds in the sky,

bees in the sun,

and the flowers on a green hillside.

In the school teach him

it is far honourable to fail

than to cheat...

Teach him to have faith

in his own ideas,

even if everyone tells him

they are wrong...

Teach him to be gentle

with gentle people,

and tough with the tough.

Try to give my son

the strength not to follow the crowd

when everyone is getting on the band wagon...

Teach him to listen to all men...

but teach him also to filter

all he hears on a screen of truth,

and take only the good

that comes through.

Teach him if you can,

how to laugh when he is sad...

Teach him there is no shame in tears,

Teach him to scoff at cynics

and to beware of too much sweetness...

Teach him to sell his brawn

and brain to the highest bidders

but never to put a price-tag

on his heart and soul.

Teach him to close his ears

to a howling mob

and to stand and fight

if he thinks he's right.

Treat him gently,

but do not cuddle him,

because only the test

of fire makes fine steel.

Let him have the courage

to be impatient...

let him have the patience to be brave.

Teach him always

to have sublime faith in himself,

because then he will have

sublime faith in mankind.

This is a big order,

but see what you can do...

He is such a fine fellow,

my son!

Dear Bhaskar ji,

Saturn is a planet which attracts me because whatevr i have heard,

all say its the worst planet. It is worst for a materialistic

person , but it is the planet which give us Rishi muni, It is the

planet which makes one to take salvation.

If strictness is not in army , then army may lose the battle. And

that strictness is saturn.

It really hurts me sometimes when i find people blaming saturn for

everything bad, but it is the planet of honesty.

When i read these lines, i found it appealing to share. So i shared.

Thanks for your mail , and i am grateful that these lines touched you.

Warm Regards,

Tarun

The following are the

major Yogkaraka planets for each ascendant.

as mentioned by Late Shri BV Raman.

Aries- Jupiter

Taurus- Saturn

Gemini - Venus + Saturn

Cancer - Mars + Jupiter

Leo - Mars

Virgo - Venus

Libra - Saturn

Scorpio Jupiter + Sun + Moon

Sagittarius - Mars

Capricorn - Venus

Aquarius - Venus

Pisces - Mars + Moon

In above list , we find Venus,Mars and Saturn re-occuring

frequently, though for a Casual observer ,Venus may sound as

a planet related to Sex and Love, Mars as a Planet producing

aggression, heat, anger,Cuts, and Saturn as a Planet who

punishes. gives lingering disease and creates all types

of problems in Life .

We may give astrological reasoining for what a Yogkaraka

Planet is - Owner of kendra and Trikona both, Lord of the

most benefic house etc.

But from a Esoteric point of view-

Mars (Mangala) represents (Karma) or action.

Karma from a moral sense as in Kartavya (Duty).

A default in ones duties towards parents, kinsmen,

family,society and country represents amangal

(Read Mangal as fortune and amangal as

Misfortune).

Suva mangal or shubh Mangal or Good actions,

is Rinantaka or end of rins or terminator of debts.

Therefore Shubh Mangal is essential for any welfare

or good luck.

Karma arises from Kama. Which now brings us to Venus.

The main pivot of ones reasomn to Live each day - Desires.

Venus-Shukra derived from Sucha, Suchi, -means purity.

Shukra has another name - Vrish (As in Taurus -Vrishabha)

Vrish derived from Varsha - or Showers- that which showers

good actions (Dharma- Religion)- Vrsa is the carrier of Lord

Shiva (Wisdom). The Devata (Lord) of Venus is Indra (same

as indriya-the senses of the body) Kamana or vasanas (Desires)

are represented by venus.

Kamana -Desires has within it the creative force ,both on physical

and mental planes. It has the power to create. In us Venus gives

passion. It gives in us a craving in the heart for gratification

of the senses. Till this is satisfied all is well seemingly to us.

But when Kamana -Desires gets a setback it, turns into

Krodha - anger - Fire of Mars.

Where does Mars get Exalted - In Capricorn. Lorded by

Saturn.

Saturn represents time and its effect. Time is destiny.

Wheneevr there is violation of truth, absence of self control or over

indulgence in sexual pleasures-Desires (Venus), Saturn as

destiny appears in time to wield its Powers. The destiny turns

slowly unseen to inflict the due punishment for disobeying the laws

of Time - Dharma -Shubh Karma (Mangal). Saturn passes sentences

aiming a change within, to liberate the offender, from the Moh or Maya

that Lie unseen in the fold of mind, and had caused the offence

against time. It creates - situations - the truning point of Life, which

ultimately leads him to self realisation and in later stages brings in

renunciation.

So mobility of a life is Saturn. Misdirected Life is evil Saturn that

turns one into evil person. Favourable . e Shani or Saturn is Vishnu

Shakti which secretly steals away mind from the material

plane to the spiritual plane.

The Natural Kundli. Kala purush Kundli.

Aries is the ascendant. Mars is the Lord.

Mars gets exalted in Capricorn in the 10th

house. Please note well the significations.

Mars(Self) and if Shubh Karma(Good actions)

represented through the 10th house of

Saturn, would produce fulfillment of all desires

(Venus) again through gains derived from the

11th house which also is Owned by Saturn.

Thus we see that for ordinary people Mars,Venus

or Saturn may be malefic, but for good

elevated Souls, there is no maleficness from

these Great Planets, and would on the contrary

prove to be a blessing(Yog karaka) for one

who keeps Good desires (Venus) , does Good

Work( Mars-Action) and gets rewarded (Saturn),

a reward which no one can take away.

Remember that for those with saturn in

11th house, the journey for gains may

be ardous, but gains once derived, would

for one to keep always.

That is the reason, probably i feel, these Planets

have been given the status of Yogkaraka

Planets.

The above was from my limited understanding of the

subject. Please feel free to ignore the same.

regards,

Bhaskar.

Dear Tarunji,

I put this specially in reply for the Saturn post

You put up. I have never believed any Planet as

bad. They are all dual in qualities. The worthy

would get the juice from the fruits, while the

unworthy would be left with the undigestable and

tasteless seeds.

Remember that Saturn is both the Giver, through

the 11th house ownership, and also the Taker

through the 10th house ( 12th from the 11th ).

mars in the 10th with great digbala, is the

pointer of karma or action, which if shubh

Mangala then, would fructify the 11th house

effects, or else if ashubh then, the opposite.

regards,

Bhaskar.
