Edward Bach Musings

Hello Dear List,

 

 

 

Just looking at the chart of Edward Bach, the doctor and sensitive who

created Bach Flower Remedies. Although I have no birth time, it is quite an

interesting chart via the Chandra Lagna, and on the day of his birth, the

Moon was in Cancer the entire 24 hours. - As well in the Navamsa chart, the

entire day gives Jupiter in exaltation in Cancer.

 

 

 

Birth data: September 24, 1886, Moseley, England

 

 

 

This Rasi chart shows as final depositor for all planets, other than Moon,

Mercury - who is in exaltation. Final depositor though of Mars, given a time

later than 12:19, would change when Mars moves to Scorpio. Perhaps so with

the planet of action, initiative, motivation, research and laboratories,

natural karaka of 3H in water sign Scorpio, and from Moon, Mars owns 10H of

career. (Thank you Wendy for the great and easy reference to houses and

planets at your web site!) Another interesting note is if we take a time

after 3:26 Moon is in Ashlesha, Mercury's star, for the following hours

until the next day.

 

 

 

Clearly Mercury is crucial to his chart. Also it is interesting that Mercury

is in 3H from Moon. Along with Mercury are Sun and Jupiter and in Virgo.

Mercury and Sun both in Uttara Phalguni - an important perspective of who

this man is.

 

 

 

>From PL, Uttara Phalguni: The lords are Ravi and Budha. It's attributes are

much the same as those of Poorva Phalguni. The only difference is that

generosity, kindness, patronage and an eagerness to help the distressed, to

help friends and intimates and those who seek help are more pronounced in

this star.

 

 

 

Water is also given under "Place" in the tables of Nakshatras concerning

this star. Water again mentioned under "People, Professions, and Activities"

(tables in Ernst Wilhelm's book). It states: Kind-hearted persons, the pure

in conduct, modest, heretics, charitable persons, the learned, very rich

men, those who are devoted to their duties, and kings, lawyers, judges,

financiers, government/social service, those with Vedic knowledge,

treasurers. - And then Wilhelm's book has italicized: "hermits or

mendicants, water."

 

 

 

Water also indicated in this chart with Moon in Cancer. This focus on water

so intriguing when we consider he discovered this new form of potentisation.

 

 

 

 

This word 'mendicants' being a very interesting one here as Dr Bach never

charged for his work, no charge to his patients, either the rich or the

poor, or even for the books. His finances were only contributions from

grateful patients and gifts from friends from time to time. At one point

hoping to gain the printing costs so he could continue to have them printed,

he planned to charge only a twopence for his inexpensive pamphlet so all

could afford it, and then he would forget to ask for the twopence and send

copies to all who asked for them. This is quite interesting as Dr Bach had a

very successful career in London before leaving all behind for this

dedicated work. He was very well respected in his work and career as a

bacteriologist and lecturing and explaining his research to medical

professionals from all over the world. (So this is clearly a conscious

choice versus an inability to make good money in his career.)

 

 

 

Here's a bit from the book, "The Story of Mount Vernon, Home of the Bach

Flower Remedies" by Judy Howard:

 

 

 

"He would give everything away - even the shirt he was wearing if he thought

that someone else was in greater need. Material possessions meant nothing to

him. The only thought on his mind was the welfare of his fellow brothers and

sisters. Seeing the smile return to their faces was his greatest pleasure."

 

 

 

Another interesting thing here is in Nora Weeks book on Dr Bach, she states

that as a young boy, due to his overwhelming compassion and great

understanding in another person's or creature's suffering or distress, he

determined to be a doctor, and in school he often sat in class and dreamed

the healing power flowed from his hand and all whom he touch were healed.

When he was older he knew this to be true, that he did indeed possess the

divine gift of healing with his hand, and he never knew when this might

happen. Note this Navamsa exalted Jupiter is in Rasi chart in Virgo along

with this exalted Mercury and Sun, Jupiter however being placed in Hasta

Nakshatra, star lord Moon, and symbolizing hand, and Anthropomorphically is

the hand of Kalapurush. Deity is Surya and there is also much more in the

meaning of this nakshatra as well that applies. In Navamsa Jupiter in

Pushya, providing more to this.

 

 

 

To me a really intriguing chart and again a good example of how much we can

see by using the Chandra Lagna when without a birth time. So much more

p.s. I think too as you, that the accuracy of using the Chandra as the lagna in

a birth chart without a birth time to be very effective. I also like the Chandra

lagna for fine tuning some difficult charts too, instead of using or in

compliment with the Asc. As well as learning to remember to use the ruler of the

Nakshatra of a planet to analysis. That technique in and of itself I am finding

is the bedrock of accurate Vedic predictions. There is another delineation that

I often overlook that really should be the first in correct interpretation, and

that is, taking the placement of the Transiting planets and their Nakshatra

rulers from the Moon's position vs. the Asc. It make sense if one is using the

Vimsottari dasa to begin with.

 

Of course, I stand corrected from any learned member if I am misguided.

However, I do like the use of the Chandra Lagna for charts without birth times.

And your use here Patrice, with Edward Bach's chart is very convincing, knowing

his life's history and health contribution for many.

Dear Patrice,

 

I'm looking at a tentative time of (around) 15:50. This gives lagnesh

Sani in 6th house of work/service whilst 6th lord Mercury gets

exalted in 9th house. 6th house is associated with healing,

special diets (self-improvement/healing techniques), healing and

caring for others (as in nursing and so forth). And 9th house is

associated with remedies (medicine, tapas etc).

 

9th lord Mercury (lord of 6th and dispositor of lagnesh Sani) is

combust Sun in Sun's nakshatra. As we know, Sun is also a

significator for medicine; ruling physicians, chemists etc..

The presence of compassionate Jupiter here influencing both Sun (by

conjunction) and Lagna (by aspect) speaks of his generosity.10th lord

Venus, conjunct Rahu in 8th, points to a major change(shift) in his

professional life.

 

There's not a lot of information to be had on the internet and I'm

assuming he wasn't married as I can't find any reference to this?

What I did find was the date of his death (27 Nov 1936). Using the

time (above) gives dasa of MO-SU-JU. 7th lord Moon aspects lagna,

8th lord Sun conjuncts lagna lord's dispositor and Jupiter owns

3rd/12th...

 

Of course this is all purely hypothetical at this stage, but it's a

starting point at least (for further rectification). I'd like to

encourage others to try their hand at rectification as it's a great

tool for learning.
