Mahayagya organised for blast victims

Varanasi, March 11

MEMBERS OF Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Shahar Dakshini Vikas Sangharsh

Samiti, on Saturday organised a `Mahayagya' outside the Sankat

Mochan Temple for the peace of departed souls of Tuesday's twin

blast.

 

Chief priest of Ram Janki Mandir at Gurudhan area, Manas Marmagya Dr

Ram Kamal Das Vedanti along with scores of saints and other

volunteers took out a peace procession from Ram Janki Mandir to

Sankat Mochan.

 

Rebel Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former chief minister of

Madhya Pradesh, Uma Bharti, also performed `aahuti' in the Mahayagya

and prayed for the peace of departed souls of Tuesday's twin blasts

at Sankat Mochan Temple and Cantonment Railway Station. As many as

15 Vedic Brahmins conducted the Mahayagya.

 

Members of Shahar Dakshini Vikas Sangharsh Samiti criticised the

state government and district administration for not deploying

proper security even after such a massive blast.

 

Prominent among others who participated in the peace procession and

performed `aahuti' at Mahayagya included State organising secretary

of VHP, Manoj Srivastava, Sanjay Pandey, Lalit Bahadur Singh,

Divakar Ji, Anand Singh, Vijay Yadav and Deepak Singh.

 

Leaders of various political parties on Saturday observed a `Samuhik

Upvas' at the Bharat Mata Mandir in Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth

for peace and harmony of the city.

 

Former State minister, Shatrudra Prakash led the `Samuhik Upvas'.

 

Leaders of Samajwadi Party, Communist Party of India, CPI (Marxist),

Forward Bloc, Rashtriya Janta Dal and Janta Dal (Secular) etc.,

observed fast and prayed for peace and harmony of the city.

 

Meanwhile, activists of the Samajwadi Party on Saturday led by the

State president of Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha Imran Ahmad took out a

peace march from the Maldahiya Crossing to Town Hall.

 

The activists observed two-minute silence for the peace of departed

souls of twin bomb-blasts.

 

The processionists also criticised the incident in strong words.

Anwar Ansari, Harish Narayan Singh, Gufran Warsi, Sanjay Kannaujiya

and Siddharth Jaiswal were among others who participated in the

peace march.
