In "Power of the Presence" vol 3, the chapter of Lakshman Sarma, you mention the

commentary he wrote on Ulladu Narpardu that was serialised in the newspaper

'Jana Mittiran'. You go on to say how Bhagavan ensured this was printed by the

Ashram and that...

"Bhagavan left no one in doubt that this was his own commentary and

interpretation. Prior to the publication in book form of Lakshman Sarma's

commentary, if anyone asked Bhagavan about the meaning of a particular verse in

Ulladu Narpadu, he would take out the scrapbook in which he pasted the weekly

Jana Mittiran commentaries and show the relevant section to the questioner."

>Is Lakshman Sarma's "Maha Yoga" the English version and compilation of the

commentaries above, or do these exist in a separate published form?

Dear Peter,

Maha Yoga is a reworking of the material, not a translation. The original

Tamil commentary goes through the verses one by one in the traditional way.

Maha Yoga is arranged thematically, but it still contains much of the material

that Lakshmana Sarma was given in his private lessons with Bhagavan. Given

Bhagavan's ringing endorsement of the text, it is most surprising that the

original Tamil commentary has never been published in book form in English.

However, in the last year or so The Mountain Path has begun to serialise Ram

Mohan's translations of the original Tamil commentary. Since The Mountain Path

is a quarterly and since only one verse is published per issue, it will be some

time before the work is complete.
