Default Shiva vs Vishnu -- According to Shiva Purana

Sadashiva and Vishnu -- SAME

http://www.gita-society.com/temple/H...as16.htm#shiva

LORD SHIVA PREPARES FOR THE BATTLE
GANAS THRONG MANDAR MOUNTAIN

Pulastya says- "When Lord Shiva became aware of Andhak's imminent attack, he requested Nandi to summon all the Ganas who were more than 700 crores in number. Some of the prominent Ganas like Pashupat, Kalmukh, Mahavrati, Digambar, Maini, Mahapashupat and Vrishabhdhwaj arrived at Mandar Mountain to help Lord Shiva at the request of Nandi.

On seeing the valiant Gana- Pashupat, Lord Shiva embraced him, which surprised all the other Ganas. They were amazed at the special honor given to him. Lord Shiva realised their astonishment and said- "Although all of you have great devotion towards me but in your ignorance, you have shown disrespect towards Lord Vishnu. All of you except Pashupat don't realise that both of us (Lord Shiva and Vishnu) are inseparable and there is no difference between us. Pashupat is aware of this and hence he has been accorded the highest honor." Having said this, Lord Shiva revealed his majestic form of Sadashiva to the Ganas. The Ganas were bewildered on seeing the whole universe existing within Sadashiva. Lord Sadashiva then transformed his appearance into that of Lord Vishnu. The Ganas also viewed the forms of deities like Indra, Surya and Lord Brahma etc. in him. They were now convinced that both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu were the same. The dawning of this realisation liberated them from their ignorance. Lord Shiva blessed the Ganas and embraced them. All the Ganas then took their position all around Mandar Mountain and readied themselves for the forthcoming attack

Default Sadashiva

http://www.gita-society.com/temple/H...as16.htm#shiva

THE GREATNESS OF PRANAV MANTRA

Regarding the methods of Shiva's worship, Kartikeya told Vamadeva that though Sadashiva was one, yet he was known by various names like Maheshwar, Rudra, Brahma and Vishnu. Mahesh was created from the thousandth part of Sadashiva. The goddess of all illusions - Bhagawati dwells in the left side of Sadashiva, therefore he is the lord of all the actions of the universe. Sadashiva plays his desire acts by indulging in creation, nurturement and annihilation of this world

So for the past 5,000 years Shiva has been worshiped? Yes?

So for the past 5,000 years Krishna has not been worshiped, or, if so, Krishna worship was falsely done? Yes?

That explains what happened to Rome, Pompei, Alexander Library, Hastinapura, Allahabad & Constantinople. Hmm.

Shiva is believed to have a large number of attendants, called ganas.Shiva therefore has eight forms: Rudra, Sharva, Bhava, Ugra, Bhima, Pashupati, Ishana, and Mahadeva, which, according to the Shiva Purana, correspond to the earth, water, fire, wind, sky, a yogi called Kshetragya

Bg10.42 Purport by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami:
. . . In the Padma Puräëa it is said that one who considers the Supreme Lord Kåñëa in the same category with demigods—be they even Brahmä or Çiva—becomes at once an atheist.

If, however, one thoroughly studies the different descriptions of the opulences and expansions of Kåñëa’s energy, then one can understand without any doubt the position of Lord Çré Kåñëa and can fix his mind in the worship of Kåñëa without deviation.

The Lord is all-pervading by the expansion of His partial representation, the Supersoul, who enters into everything that is. Pure devotees, therefore, concentrate their minds in Kåñëa consciousness in full devotional service; therefore they are always situated in the transcendental position.

Devotional service and worship of Kåñëa are very clearly indicated in this chapter in verses eight through eleven. . . .

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Çréla Jéva Gosvämé also quotes another common passage, which is found in three Puräëas, namely the Padma Puräëa, Skanda Puräëa and Liìga Puräëa. It runs as follows:

äloòya sarva-çästräni

vicärya ca punaù punaù
idam ekaà suniñpannaà
dhyeyo näräyaëaù sadä

“By scrutinizingly reviewing all the revealed scriptures and judging them again and again, it is now concluded that Lord Näräyaëa is the Supreme Absolute Truth, and thus He alone should be worshiped.”

The same truth is also indirectly described in the Garuòa Puräëa as follows:

päraà gato ’pi vedänäà

sarva-çästrärtha-vedy api
yo na sarveçvare bhaktas
taà vidyät puruñädhamam

“Even though one may have gone to the other side of all the Vedas, and even though one is well versed in all the revealed scriptures, if one is not a devotee of the Supreme Lord, he must be considered the lowest of mankind.” Similarly, it is also stated in Çrémad-Bhägavatam (5.18.12) indirectly as follows:

yasyästi bhaktir bhagavaty akiïcanä

sarvair guëais tatra samäsate suräù
haräv abhaktasya kuto mahad-guëä
mano-rathenäsati dhävato bahiù

One who has unflinching devotion unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead must have all the good qualities of the demigods, and contrarily one who is not a devotee of the Lord must be hovering in the darkness of mental speculation and thus must be engaged in material impermanence. Çrémad-Bhägavatam (11.11.18) says:

çabda-brahmaëi niñëäto

na niñëäyät pare yadi
çramas tasya çrama-phalo
hy adhenum iva rakñataù

“One may be well versed in all the transcendental literature of the Vedas, but if he fails to be acquainted with the Supreme, then it must be concluded that all of his education is like the burden of a beast or like one’s keeping a cow without milking capacity.”

Similarly, the liberty of discharging loving transcendental service to the Lord is invested in everyone, even the women, the çüdras, the forest tribes, or any other living beings born in sinful conditions.
