Symbol of OM
My question is that why is everybody putting the wrong symbol of OM in Devanagari script? For example in this site itself they have put (ostensibly) OM GANESHAYA NAMAHA in Hindi/Devanagari script at the top. But the OM symbol is incorrect. Hindi O symbol is not this symbol. This symbol is OO as the sound of U in flUte. The wrong OM symbol is being conceptualized and spread by those who control mass media because the wrong OM symbol looks like the number 3, which stands for 4 in the Arabic number script. Further it looks like a tea cup.. Everybody is doing the same mistake without realizing the mistake. |

usually hindus write/chant: shree ganeshAya namaH Om namaH shivaaya The devanagari OM at the top of this page is correct symbol of OM.

OM Symbol
The symbol that COULD be used is the Hindi alphabet "o" http://www.omniglot.com/writing/hindi.htm Using the "u" symbol is incorrect and has been done that way by the political "editors". |
