Slokas of Kabir

Kabir says,

why are you killing yourself

over houses, pavilions,

and the proper way

of decorating them?

At most, you only need half,

or a third of all this.

Kabir says,

I love my Beloved,

People who don't understand

try to stop me.

How can I break off

with Him,

who has given me life

and breath?

********

Kabir says,

you call out to Ram [God]

when you're in trouble --

remember Him in that way always:

This is how you will come to live

in the deathless City.

Hari [God] replaces what you lose.

********

Kabir says,

these two are necessary for devotion [bhakti]:

a sage and Ram.

Ram gives you salvation,

and a sage

makes you repeat His Name.

-- Sant Kabir, Slokas translated in, "Songs of Kabir From the

Adi Granth," By Nirmal Dass, SUNY Press, NY
