...... How does the path that one seeks influence the possible experiences

one may have in the course of seeking? If one follows a Buddhist

path, will one's experiences confirm the mystical beliefs of that

system?

To a certain extent, I would think so. You say...:

......For example, some Zen masters may teach a student that if

they experience certain unusual sensations that they should observe

these experiences, but not engage them. This will ultimately lead to

success in attaining Nirvana.

As a hypnotherapist, in the majority of cases, I can give you *suggestions* to

what will occur in a situation, and it will. 75% of the sale of a hypnosis

session is given prior to the hypnosis.

I mention this because our paths are full of suggestions to what may occur,

whether coming from a teacher or a book. I know I've never 'spoken in

tongues', yet Christians do this all the time.

......I don't want to go too broad with this question. I am really looking

for discussion about how listmembers believe that the form of their

approach to spiritual fulfillment influences the nature of how the

path of experiencing God/Self unfolds.

I think the dedication, the discipline, the desire to know God/Self will bring

Realization, no matter the path.... and then ultimately the unfoldment of Self

will come of its own accord.... or as I like to say -- "I ain't moving... He

has to find me this time!" I'll do my part... and my part is what is asked

on my particular path. My path is A Course in Miracles and it has been a big

influence I have to say. It is a path of forgiveness... one in which we see

another as ourself.

I speak of unfoldment of Self defined as observing mySelf grow, and the

chipping away of my little self, into more of who I AM.

I'm not up on the yogic terms as Harsha knows! Maybe this won't make sense

to you.

Ultimately, as ACIM sez, all paths lead to God.

I'm taking the shortcut. (which way is it again??) LOL

Love,

xxxtg
