Dear All,

I have never met either Shree Maa or Swamiji in the physical form.

For the last 5 or 6 years I have on and off tried to learn the Chandi

Path. I had attended a navaratri chant , when someone had showed me

Swamjis' book and said this was the only translation and

transliteration around. That was in the mid 90's I think. An Indian

editon, from Motilal Banarsidass, turned up in the spiritual bookstore

in Sydney and I grabbed it. Several years ago I also found a copy of

the Kali Puja in the same bookstore.

On and off over the years I would check the website but could never

listen to what was available because I was on dial up internet service.

Recently, I put in adsl, and suddenly I could listen to Swamiji....and

the bookstore was loaded and took visa.

Like a child at a candy store I have been...but I have to limit my

orders to one a billing period. Probably better in terms of

assimilation. And Swamijis' classes....wow, I was almost on the verge

of becoming a buddhist cause I had nothing for my mind to grad ahold

of... And so my sadhana has rocketed lately ...

And Maa she is always around.

Grace

The first order arrived in Dec. and with it came a bundle of shakti,

love, and joy.On 18/01/2005, at 3:45 PM, Nanda wrote:

What a wonderful tribute to Maa and Swamiji's work! And to your

determination and discrimination. Did you get the MP3 of the Chandi Path

with Maa and Swamiji chanting? It is a wonderful way to feel their bhav and

to learn Sanskrit pronunciation.

I had the same experience that you did with dial-up and the classes. I just

got dsl a few weeks ago and am amazed at the treasure trove of classes with

Swamiji.

By the way, IMHO there is nothing wrong with being a Buddhist. I spent 30

years as a Zen Buddhist and a Tibetan Buddhist before I met Shree Maa and

Swamiji. And all that meditation was truly wonderful. But on the day I sat

in front of their altar in March 1993, I knew I was truly "home".

I can't really explain the experience. It was heavenly...to look into the

eyes of the Goddess and then to turn around and look into the eyes of Shree

Maa...to feel her loving welcome, her simplicity, her humility, the depth of

her meditation. Then there was Swamiji. I had never met anyone like him in

my life. He embodied my ideals of perfection. To see his absorption at the

fire, to hear his voice full of love and devotion, to experience his

delightful smile and sense of humor, to see him hard at work at physical

labor, to learn of his life of learning. I think what hit me in my heart was

"Shree Maa and Swamiji are living life the way it was meant to be lived."

What more could you want from your teachers?

My love and blessings to all who read this...especially to all who have not

met Shree Maa and Swamiji on the physical plane. May you meet them in your

hearts each day as you do sadhana.

Jai Maa, Ardis [and everyone],

i am weeping [yet again] smiling through my tears after reading what

you wrote about your first experience of Maa and Swamiji. Everything

you have said stuck a chord with me. That is exactly how i feel..even

though i have not yet been with Them Physically, i feel like They are

with me every moment. The more dedicated i become towards Them and my

Sadhana, the stronger i feel Their Presence. It is growing everyday.

To me, They are the living embodiment of Holy Mother and Sri

Ramakrishna's teachings. There i said it! i too feel 'i have come

home.' i have seen many 'Swami's' in this life, but never anyone

filled with such sincere enthusiasm as our Swamiji. He burns with

such devotional fire! And it is so catching! Stand near His Fire, and

you can't help but be inspired! The First time i saw Their Pictures i

had an inner feeling of Recognition! i feel such love radiating from

Them! i can't even imagine what it is like to be in Their Physical

Presence! i think i might dissolve into Pure Bliss!

Jai Maa! Jai Swamiji! Jai Ramakrishna Deva

muktimaa

P.S. i still have dial-up...but when the online classes were first

put up, i was able to hear them! i took my little tape re-corder and

everyday spent the entire day [yes, literally the whole day!]

recording every class!! i listened to them over and over and

over....i still do! They have helped me more than i can ever begin to

say...Pure Bliss and Inspiration! :<)

I have not met either

Shreemaa or Swami, yet. I came to this group through an invitation

(one of those invites that come to those who have certain

interests on their profiles, I presume). At the time I had a budding

interest in getting to know more about Sanatana Dharma but did not know

where to begin. I joined the Devi Mandir group and have been trying to

figure my way around ever since!

:-)

I bought the Idiot's

Guide to Hinduism which someone suggested and which has been quite

helpful in explaining things in 'layperson's' terms. I have read Before

Becoming This and that was great. And I learned how to do the prayer

mantra which I endeavor to be consistent about doing on Saturdays. I

got the Durga Puja book and so far it is the one thing with which I

feel a little more comfort and familiarity. Been reading at the Guru

Gita and don't know what it means (granted I haven't taken time to read

the chat archives). Have the Chandi book and well...what can I say?

Don't feel ready for that. I do it (Durga Puja, though not yet with

the offerings) every night and a day doesn't feel complete without it.

I wish I could understand more than I do at this point but alas,

everything in it's own time, I suppose.

Perhaps one day I will

be blessed to meet the gurus in flesh. Jai Maa! Jai Swami!

I drove about 4 hours to Atlanta GA to meet Maa. I knew after seeing

Maa's picture on the Daughters of the Goddess book, that I had to

meet Her. The first program was a fire Yagya, and of course I got

lost trying to find the house in a big Atlanta suburb. After driving

all over the neighborhood, I finally found it, but was very late,

which had caused me to be sort of distressed. I found my way to the

back yard of the house and the Yagya was well under way. I had

brought flowers for Shree Maa, but I saw immedeatly that I wouldn't

be able to get anywhere near Maa because there was a huge crowd. I

walked around to the back side of the perameter of the crowd and

slowly resolved myself of the fact that I couldn't get close, and

would have to be satisfied with seeing from a distance. Even from a

distance though, I was spellbound. But just then, before even getting

settled, one of Maa's devotees who was sitting RIGHT BESIDE HER, got

up and came over to me and said, "there's a seat

right there". He pointed me to the open space. With my mind totally

blown by this, I walked over to where Mother was seated, bowed, and

took my seat. Shree Maa was just to the right of me, close enough to

touch, Swami Ji was performing the Yagya just slightly farther away,

and the fire was right in front of me. I was really blown away. It

was the first time I had ever seen Shree Maa or Swami Ji. If I live

for 100 more years, I'll never forget that day.

Jai Maa!

It's surely no accident that you found the group. May you get the

chance to meet Maa and Swami soon! It's great that you're doing the

Durga Puja. Ma Durga will surely take you to the highest hieghts! May

She also lead you to Shree Maa's door.

Yes Ardis,

I got the MP3 of the Chandi Path and have been practicing with it

ever since. What absolutely pierced my heart was Maa chanting the

Chandi Ararti and Bhagavatistutih.

No, there is nothing wrong with being a Buddhist...just an off joke.

Beautifully put how Maa and Swami are living life as it was meant to be

livied.

I have found them totally inspirational...My first Guru, Muktananda,

taught me the Guru Gita and i spent many years chanting it. However, I

was always looking for the Mother. Since I have been with many

teachers, but none have moved in so quickly as Maa and Swamji...and

none ever irradicated my broken heart after Muktananda took

MahaSamadhi.

Dar Muktimaa,

I think at times you are in pure bliss just nobody has pointed out that

this is the name of the experience you are having or relaying to us

all.

I sure wish I could figure out how to tape Swamiji's classes sjo that I

listen to them while I am engaged in mundane tasks and not just sitting

at the computer. I have tried to download them but that did not work

....I figured Swamiji had purposely loaded the classes so they could not

be downloaded.

Anyway, thank you for sharing.

I am eager to meet them but I donot know their address. I know that they

So near but so far.

Hi Guys,

U all are great. Your sincerity despite of not meeting Maa and Swamijee

is amazing.

I found the Shree Maa web site just surfing the net. In a period of two

to three years I would go back to the site and browse through it, think

about ordering some books and then would not do anything about it. A

couple of months after having my baby boy, I had a dream

In which a lady in saffron with a tanpura was sitting with my departed

grandmother in her puja room. I think she was singing a Bhajan. Then she

scolded me and told me that I need to work harder and put efforts into

my puja.

I woke up wondering about this dream. During the day I went back to

Shree maa's website clicked on tour information and found out that she

was in Washington D.C that day.Somehow things worked out and in the

evening I was at the house and kirtan was going on. She was sitting

there amid devotees and I was just nervous, unsure and worried about

protocol.

I did pluck the courage and went and spoke to her. My son sat in her lap

and took her little drum. The next day during darshan she sad something

to me, but it was as if I was not listening, to this day I do not know

what she said to me. The whole time I was holding back. But later on I

approached her again and she said to me: that I need to work very hard.

The last four years have been a whirlwind. I am a very stubborn

difficult learner, but maa and swamijee have always been with me guiding

me, can't say if I have made any progress.

The only thing I can say is that there presence is the most wonderful ,

beautiful thing in my life.

puja.

Dear Lovers of God:

what a great topic! reading everyone's posts, I realize how BLESSED I

am to have spent time with Maa and Swamiji...

in 1998-2000 I had some experiences that led to me becoming a devotee

of Kali, and I was eagerly reading everything I could on Shaktism and

related subjects. One of the things I read was _Daughters of the

Goddess_ by Linda Johnsen, with its marvelous description of Maa.

Shortly after that, I "just happened to" present a paper on Ramprasad

Sen at a professional meeting in Denver, and Maa "just happened to" be

visiting Boulder at the very same time. By the grace of a saintly UC

prof to whom I will always be grateful, I was allowed to come to a

religion class where Maa and Swamiji spoke.

It was--magic! Beyond belief! When the class was over, Maa walked up

to each of us and offered us a Hershey's Kiss, and as she did she

asked me, "Are you God?" I thought, "Well, no--but--uhh--maybe? Uhh--"

Like Ramakrishna, Maa shows us that God is everywhere, especially in

our own hearts when we open them to devotion and dharma. I believe she

IS Ramakrishna--I don't mean to offend anyone by stating that so

directly, but--I believe she has brought that bhava back to the world

when it needs it more than ever.

Later Mother blessed me by allowing me to spend time with her and

Swamiji at a retreat near Washington, DC--Maa's disciples are amazing

because they are people like me, raised in this materialist, atheistic

culture, and yet they are examples of such devotion and selfless

service. Once I prayed to Maa to help me find a spiritual community

like the one around her--knowing that this could never happen here in

the middle of the Bible Belt--and two weeks later I "just happened to"

meet a group of devotees with whom I've taken some amazing inner and

outer journeys.

Sorry to go on and on--but I owe Maa and Swamiji everything. And then

some.

I believe that Shree Maa is none other than Sarada Devi, returned to

us in this new form. I too reside in the bible belt. All the best to

you.

andrelated subjects. One of the things I read was _Daughters of

theGoddess_ by Linda Johnsen, with its marvelous description of Maa.

Shortly after that, I "just happened to" present a paper on

RamprasadSen at a professional meeting in Denver, and Maa "just

happened to" bevisiting Boulder at the very same time. By the grace

of a saintly UCprof to whom I will always be grateful, I was allowed

to come to areligion class where Maa and Swamiji spoke. It

was--magic! Beyond belief! When the class was over, Maa walked upto

each of us and offered us a

Hershey's Kiss, and as she did sheasked me, "Are you God?" I thought,

"Well, no--but--uhh--maybe? Uhh--"Like Ramakrishna, Maa shows us that

God is everywhere, especially inour own hearts when we open them to

devotion and dharma. I believe sheIS Ramakrishna--I don't mean to

offend anyone by stating that sodirectly, but--I believe she has

brought that bhava back to the worldwhen it needs it more than ever.

Later Mother blessed me by allowing me to spend time with her

andSwamiji at a retreat near Washington, DC--Maa's disciples are

amazingbecause they are people like me, raised in this materialist,

atheisticculture, and yet they are examples of such devotion and

selflessservice. Once I prayed to Maa to help me find a spiritual

communitylike the one around her--knowing that this could never

happen here inthe middle of the Bible Belt--and two weeks later I

"just happened to"meet a group of devotees with whom I've taken some

amazing inner andouter journeys. Sorry to go on and on--but I owe Maa

and Swamiji everything. And thensome. Kalibhakta

Namaste--and thank you.

Living here in the belt buckle used to seem oppressive, until Kali Ma

spoke to my heart and had me start reading all these Christian mystics

(Julian of Norwich, J.P de Caussade, Gabrielle Bossis, etc.)...and I

found that, yes, they were talking about Her, in their own language.

my ego was what was oppressing me.

Jai Maa!

I never saw Shree Maa or Swamiji personally, but there is a long time

behind I read the book the Goddess's Daughters and I tried to do

contact with them.I almost read all of the books of the I Devi

Mandir, but was only our cyber sangha that helped me to dedicate my

time to the sadhana that they teach us. In the book Shree Maa the

Life of Saint, (p. 119) Swamiji tell us that when Shree Maa arrived

to the occident and she saw a computer, she said: "It looks like a

very efficient tool. I think you had better learn how to use one of

these." Fantastic!!!!She was right, the union of spirituality of the

east with the tecnology of the west is possible!!! This union can

help many people like me. I only have the privilege of worship

because I am in this wonderfull group with our forum, our class, our

sankalpas. So I decided do a thesi on our group. I think it is that

is an opportunity to bring their teachings here in Brazil. I love all

you and I thank all you very much and very specially

you querida Nanda. I bow to you. Namaste!

With love
