(From Rupa Goswamis Laghu Radha-Krishna Ganoddesa dipika verses 109-111)

 

Srimati Radhika has many favorite pets:

 

cows: Sunandaa (who makes nice sounds), Yamunaa (one like the Yamuna river), Bahulaa (the black one)

 

She-calf: Tungi (the tall one)

 

an old female monkey: Kakkhati (the staunchly determined one)

 

doe: Rangini (she who is nicely colored)

 

chakori bird: Charu-chandrika (one like pleasant moonbeams)

 

she-swan (who always stays in Radha kunda): Tundikeri (nicely beaked one)

 

Peahen: Tundika (she who has a nice beak)

 

two talking she-parrots: Suksma-dhi (she of fine Intelligence) and Subha (the auspicious one)

 

Syamasundars favorite pets:

 

cows: Mangala, Pingala, Pishangi, Manikasthani, Hamsi, Vamsipriya

 

bulls: padma-gandha (lotos scented one) and Pishangaksha (one of tawny

eyes)

 

deer: Suranga (nicely colored one)

 

He-monkey: Dadhi-lobha (one who is always greedy for yogurt)

 

A king swan: kala svana (one who makes soft, gentle sounds)

 

A peacock: Tandavika (who is fond of dancing madly)

 

dogs: Vyaghra and Bhramaraka

 

two talking He-parrots: Daksha (the clever one) and Vicakshana (the particularly clever one)
