Guest guest
Sometimes when I see or hear of people going to extremes for hygene, I sometimes wonder if there is a way to over do it. Hygene is an important part of health, and it has done much to extend the lives of modern man, but if we overdue hygene to the extent that we limit our interaction with agents of the world around us, do we not limit our body's ability to detect and protect us through our natural immune systems from these agents. For example, smallpox has been irradicated from the modern world through an exposure of a lesser form of it to those who would contract it to build immunity. Therefore I believe that if we do not experience such agents, by avoiding dust because it may be flaked skin, etc, that we may be making ourselves prone to attack from the agents. Are we helping ourselves live more productive lives, or are we causing ourselves problems by maybe promoting ailments like allergies.
