Guest guest
What is the krishna conciousness view on using anti-depressants? Not just for like if you feel sad, but like if you have a genuine chemical imbalance? Just curious as I have never heard anything on this subject Hare Krishna
Govindaram
Hare Krishna If you are very depressed then take anti-depessants they will help you, then when you feel better, and feel you can cope with life, then you can stop the medication..chanting hare-krishna is essential also, but if your mind is depressed, you can stop chanting and so on, but's it all depends on the individual person, there's no magic one answer. Guest guest
Hare krishna I am happy when I am chanting, or at the temple. I am not always depressed, but if I do not take my medication, I am impatient, short with my family, and have a hard time coping with normal things (kids, etc...) I want to be free of this, and have my conciousness be real, not medicated. When I am at the temple, I don't want to leave. I want to always be surrounded by devotees. I am happy then. Govindaram
"I want to be free of this, and have my consciousness be real, not medicated." Don't worry if you have good devotee association, then everything will be fine, keep taking your medication, until you feel able to stop, then see what happens. Guest guest
Thank you. I was feeling that it was bad that I was on medication. I don't want to have to be, but I am, so I guess I just accept it for now.
