anveshan 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2003 Oh, Sanatanies, accept my salutaions Accept homages of a humble sheep A sheep whose forefathers died for your gods A sheep whose generations served at your tables. A sheep, who is older than the holy cows Who served your forefathers since vanavasi days A sheep whom you traded in those barter days Hapless one born destined to be slaughtered. Your Rishies made ajamamsa rasayanam out of me Rajarshies relished , augmented their valor at my cost Your cow so holy cannot yield the ksheeram and mootram That is mine, full of oushadhi,hand-picked and selected for thee. Me, O man, is your single largest supplier of food From the Arctic to the Antarctic you slaughter me While I shiver in cold, my wool protects you I am skinned for a luxurious paadaraksha for thee. Yet, you say the cow is holy The cow is maata, the cow cannot be slaughtered And the day will come, I am sure That thee will bestow voting rights on her. Think of me, the hapless sheep who lives for you Clothes you, gives you food and drink Am I a sudra and a question I ask thee and thy gods Can the vedas be amended to make me aghanya?
