kabir was an advaiti saint

who tried to mix islam and sahantana dharma.

he rejected moorti pooja.

he did not start any sampradaya, but his followers started it which is called kabir panth (path).

they are called bhaktaas.

 

the swaminarayans are forbidden to sing kabir's bhajans by their guru sri sahajanda swami. the reason is advaita sadhana is not compatible with bhakti. one needs to stick with one path only (and respect others).

but the concept of everyone's gods is different,

and the god's message also is different.

that is why muslims do terrorisms and others do not.

Kabir is supposed to be the reincarnation of Shukacharya (son of Vedavyasa), who along with Uddhava (a great devotee of Lord Krishna in Dwapar Yuga) were ordered to take births as humans for spreading devotion among the masses. However, both of them refused to take birth through womb and were found in the rivers (in wooden boxes, they say). The former was born as Kabir and was chanting the name of Shri Ram whereas the latter was born as saint-poet Namadeva and was chanting the name of Lord Vitthala of Pandharpur. Kabir made Ramanand as his sadguru, whereas Namdeva was ordered by Lord Himself to make a guru to attain the Aatmadnyan and made Visoba Khechar as his Sadguru (who himself was a disciple of saint-poet Jnanadeva). Kabir's teachings were definitely appreciated by both Hindus and Muslims equally. Kabir was married (some say he had two wives) and had two children (Kamaal, the son and Kamali, the daughter), however, some say that these were not his own children, but were brought to life from dead by Kabir himself. His couplets are really meanigful. He did not agree with the ritualistic aspects of any religion, but emphasised on the pure devotion. Some say that, Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi was the reincarnation of Kabir.
