Gauracandra 1 Report post Posted January 10, 2002 Has anyone else been reading about this technology lately? I for one am strongly behind any technological changes that will get us out of our dependency on foreign oil. Basically these vehicles would be electric powered. Hydrogen is passed over fuel cells which cause a chemical reaction and generate electricity. One model I saw on television a few days back was very interesting. The entire design was very sleek and had of course no engine, pedals etc.... When the fuel is hydrogen, the only environmental waste product is water. So if we could move in this direction, not only would we reduce dependence on foreign oil, but we'd also clean up our environment in a major way. And since the fuel is hydrogen, we could produce it at home, so instead of spending hundreds of billions of dollars overseas, we'd keep that same money over here. This would eliminate our overall trade deficit, and with a money multiplier, the resulting job creation in all subsidiary industries would be enormous. The only thing stopping this is the oil companies in the U.S. who wouldn't want to lose their small (relatively) amount of money. Gauracandra
