Gauracandra 1 Report post Posted July 8, 2001 A few weeks back I was having some problems breathing well at work. I still have it but its not real strong lately. I was trying to figure out why it might be happening when I felt a cold burst of air from above. I sit directly under a ventilation shaft. Since summer is just starting I figured they have been turning on the air conditioning more. Does any one have opinions on air conditioning and if it is harmful to ones health? I can easily see the ducts getting filled with dust, mold, moisture etc... and then spreading it around the office. Just curious. Gauracandra Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The filters must be cleaned often, but because of cost-saving measures in today's declining economy, this task is usually skimped on. Research Legionairs(sp?) Disease for a real bummer. I use a window air conditioner, and find it quite healthful. It also filters out all the pollen (from trees, grasses, etc) and dust. They usually don't let you close the vent when it is located above your head, because it causes flow problems. Try and find a different location for your workstation. Another health issue is walking out into the heat after a spell in the a/c. Then walking into the a/c after sweating in the heat.
