Hello Mr. J N Das,

I was refered that you would be the best person to answer to my small query.

Earlier I had visited Mahabalipuram and there was a sculpture on the wall of Lord Vishnu's Ananthashayanam. There was a sculpture of 2 men standing at the feet of Lord Vishnu. I was told that one of them was attempting to kill the Lord but failed and realised his mistake.

Now While I was looking I had a thought and was immedieatly dismissed as being blasphemous. With utmost ignorance I only ask again "The hand and the pose of the Lord Vishnu indicates him being in some 'sleep state/trance' or either 'drugged'... Obviously a God cannot be drugged, unless he meant to 'play drugged'"

I would be greatful if you could light me on the thought... of what exactly happened that is potrayed on the wall.

im not sure exactly what you are talking abt but I was always under the impression that the two people standing at the feet of Vishnu are Narada and Sri Lakshmi.

It means that Narada - as the portrayal of the ideal perfect devotee - stays in his place, which is the feet of the Lord. The ideal devotee should worhsip at the feet of the Lord.

The other person (Lakshmi) means that prosperity comes from worship at the feet of the lord.

I really have no idea what "drugged" state you are talking about. Its just a sculpture. I doubt if anyone intended to portray Vishnu as "drugged"
