Guest guest Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 No. we do not worship the idols. we worship what they represent. understand? it is just like the father who has gone away on the trip and takes a picture of his son with him. When he looks at it, does he feel affection towards the picture?? No. he feels the affection towards his son. the picture is just a reminder, a sort of medium to feel that affection. get it? Quote
Guest guest Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 Maybe this guest isn't here to ask sincere questions. To clarify, a Hindu does not believe a statue is God. The worship of God through 'statues' is known as murti worship. And not all Hindu's follow murti worship, it depends on the path the Hindu is on. Manily those who follow bhakti yoga perform murti worship. It may be against other religions to worship God with the aid of images but it is not against the Hinduism. And Hindus don't live by other people's rules. Quote
