Debunking Hinduism

there's a forum of atheists, including supposed HINDUS(!), who talk as if Hinduism is merely either psychology or pure rubbish.

That there is no God, no miracles, nothing magical pertaining to life.

My opinion is that they are fools, because they do not know EVERYTHING that there is to know in the universe, so to rule out miracles, magic, and God is to close yourself off to a possible solution. It is impossible to understand every single facet of this universe.

My family has also had some mystical experiences, and I do not buy the argument that it is merely the power of suggestion that brought about this. By the way, I am Hindu as my entire family is also Hindu.

I often wonder, what would it take for an atheist to do an about-face and become a believer in God? To simply close themselves off to the possibility, is IMHO, intellectually dishonest. Why is it that some people who have mystical experiences do not believe in them? And moreover, become bitter about them or something?

Anyway, here's the forum link in case any of you guys want to see what they're saying about Hinduism, and possibly express your opinions in this thread, or in that one over there.

and God, and many detractors of such things. They all have valid arguments, and some theists have valid arguments themselves.

My opinion is that there is really no way to know if there's a higher being than us.

Some of the people in that forum I just posted about come off to me as either pseudo-intellectuals, or just bitter people who have decided to hate every religion and the people that follow it. Some are genuinely interested in the debate of God and spirituality even though they may not believe in such things. But it seems to me the last group of people are a minority in that forum.

In any case, it appears to me that uses of debate and logic are useless in proving or disproving the existence of a God and of miracles in general. What matters is the experience you have, not anybody else's. There are equal reasons it seems to me, to believe in a God and to disbelieve in a God. I have heard some equally ludicrous arguments for and against the existence of God, and I have heard equally compelling arguments for and against God as well.

Which brings me to my point: the "truth" as far as one perceives it is exceptionally malleable. Like in a criminal court, the truth can be twisted and perverted in many ways, until it hardly resembles the truth anymore and takes its own shape, something completely independent of the issue initially discussed. That is why I believe debates and application of logic about God are futile at best. Just like in a criminal court, where a man who is guilty can be proved innocent and vice versa, so too can the existence of God be proven or disproved depending on the arguments made by the proponent and detractor.

But then, how do we prove to ourselves that God exists or doesn't exist?

but even that is something that can be questioned and critically examined. If we examine it critically, it may help either reinforce or undermine our beliefs, so where is the objectivity required in trying to understand the existence of God?
