Guest guest
does anyone know of any connections between races/cultures mentioned in the puranas and real life ancient cultures that existed in the asian/african/european world during the time between 500 BC and 1000 AD?? I know the yavanas are the greeks - yavana comes from yona which is the indianized version of iona, which was the ancient greek name for themselves and ghandharvas are probably ghandaras, a kingdom in afghanistan around the time of the mauryan empire. anyone else know any? does anyone know of any specific terms used to denote a certain group of people? perhaps they also stand for a cultural group and has been lost over time
