In the avaithic schools there are small differences acknowledged regarding the proximity to obtain self-realization

Krishna

Krishna considers the existence of "average embodied human beings" who find it DIFFICULT to attain spiritual realization & suggest bhakti as the alternate path. Comment: This show how much krishna loves everyone alike. This considers that there exists varying levels of classified faculties/capabilities in people.

Sankarachayya

Sankarachrya does not consider the existence of "average embodied human beings". He considers that the true spiritual nature exists inside everyone, and it's covered by illusion. He calls for viveka and (like in BG suggests) actions without doership for purification of the mind.

Comment: This considers all people as having equal capabilities to obtain spiritual realization. Expects the devotee to continue in the direction to self-realization, either by bhakti or gyana or nishakama-karma.

Kashmir shaivism

Kashimir shaivism regards the spiritual nature as natural and so also the materialistc nature as natural. Between the two, kashmir shaivism regards material nature as the natural first. The spiritual nature requires the blessings and devotion to mother (Parvati) to uncover as she is considered as shiva-dooti, the messenger of conciousness bramhan.

Comments: Helps obtain a blanaced appreciation of energy (shakthi) at the dawn of self realization (Shiva).
