Namah om visnu padaya krsna preshtaya bhu tale srimate bhaktivedanta iti namine namaste sarasvate deve gaura vani pracarine nirvishesa sunyavadi pascatya desa tarine. Jay Srila Prabhupada, Jay Jay Srila Prabhupada.

Jai Sri Krsna Caitanya Prabhu Nitnyananda Sri Advaita Gadadhara Srivasadi gaura bhakta vrinda ki Jay.

All glories to Maha bhagavata Srila Prabhupada and the Mahajana's!!!

Can someone pleas tell me about ekadashi, dvadashi and trayodashi. Since a few years i am fasting on ekadashi. I am a Krsna bhakt for 6 years now, but i feel if i am not doing this right (ekadashi).

According to several devotees (and scriptures) you may eat on ekadashi, except for grains and pod fruits. But what i know is that, actually for suddha ekadashi you may not eat anything (i think you may not drink either). Is it (in this way) than different from Nirjala Ekadashi?

And what about Dvadashi. This is the day after ekadashi and you can observe ekadashi on dvadashi if you have broken the ekadashi.

You have also Maha dvadashi and trayodashi. What about these days?

I have also heard that Rama bhakt's have different ekadashi's, is that true?

Can anyone please tell me about this and where it is stated in the bhagavatam.

Thank you very much,

All gories to Caitanya MahaPrabhu and the Gosvami's.

Anil Krishnadath,

A stupid devotee who was thinking that Bhima Nirjala Ekadashi was on Sunday 19th of June 2005.

Hare Krishna!

All glories to Srila Prabhupada! I offer my humble obesiances unto him!

Dont be hard on yourself Prabhu!

I have been ISKCON also for close to 6years and i am slowly learning. Ekadasi is a day where one should fast and think and engage in high voltage Krishna Consciousness.

Though this is not technical language, the spirit of the law requires us to be more in Krishna Consciousness than usual.

So, more than technicality of what to eat, develop the habit of practicing more devotion combined with your ability to fast. Slowly, the Paramatma within you will reveal and show you the right path.

Please dont think iam worthy to say all this, iam just learning and sharing my personal views. So, please dont think iam advising.

Haribol!

Dear Prabhu, please accept my humble respects! All glories to Srila Prabhupada and all Vaishnawas , may all the conditioned souls get the opportunity to serve the lotus feet of these great devotees

The Ekaadasi vratha has to performed as a three day vratha according to Sri Madwacharya and the vow has to be started on the day of dasami by skipping the night meals on this day and will be extended on ekaadasi day without any food (and one should drink water occasionally) and on the day of ekaadasi jagarana has to be performed by the pure thought about the Lord in the heart and everywhere and the vow has to be broken on the day of dwadasi by offereing the food to the diety (the time frame b/w which the vow has to be broken has to be confirmed as well). And then according to the Visnu purana one shouldnt even sleep on the day of ekaadasi.

and then taking food on ekaadasi is restricted only for the pregenent woman, weak and sick people , these people cn take some fruits during this day.

Of the ekaadsi Bima or nirjala ekaadasi is the important one and the one who performs this ekaadasi vratha gets the benifit of all the ekaadasi and this one should be performed with fasting even from water.

Hope that made things more clear

still doubts I am ready to give more info

Chant hari nama and deliver yourself

Hari hari bol

P.S: Infact I just started this vow on bhima ekaadasi and well couldnt do it properly cos of lack of knowledge , but now i have sufficient knowledge to perform the next one /images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Hare Krishna,

All glories to Srila Prabhupada, the Mahajana's and all vaisnava's.

Thank you dear Prabhu's. Please accept my appreciation and respect towards you.

I am satisfied to hear these answers, but if anyone of you know more about the ekadashi and the dvadashi please tell me more if you can.

The things you have written i already know, but can you tell me about maha dvadashi and what if you have broken ekadashi. Is it not i BIG paap.

I am a sinful devotee but on the ekadashi days i want to perform full service to Radha Krsna. That means sinless. How do i do that or am i thinking and acting to deep?

Hari bol
