i havenever read the orignal Ramayana, or any translations in full for that matter...so im asking those of you that did....are there any references to Vedism? or any vedic rituals? gods? beliefs? any references to any particiular gods of worship?

it is believed by many, based on astronomical dating, that Sri Rama lived around 5114 BC...if there is vedic references, then either the aryan invasion theory is wrong, or Sri Rama lived much later than that....

Ratheesh, Ramayan talks about many rituals but most importantly Ashvamedha Yaga associated with Putra Kameshti Yaga. Dasharatha obtained great sons like Lord Rama after completing this Yaga. This proves how advanced our ancestors were.

Sri Rama and all His family worshipped Vishnu, who was their family deity. They believed in Brahminical way of living and that is why they supported Vishwamitra during his yagna karya.

There are many references in Ramayan, written both by Valmiki and Tulasi Das to the Vedas. Tulsi Ramayan is more recent so it is no surprise. But Valmiki Ramayan is very ancient and proves that Vedic culture was very strong during Lord Rama's time.

what is a

1. yagna karya

2. Ashvamedha Yaga - is that a horse sacrifice?

3. Putra Kameshti Yaga

the reason i ask is because Vaishnavism as a religion in India doesnt go as far back as Saivism. Saivism is the original religion of the world. So In Sri Rama was a vaishnav, then he couldnt have lived in 5000 BC because i dont believe Vaishnavism was in Inda at the time

infact Shaivism is the later religion. Vaishnavism is the most ancient one. Truth will not change because u do not believe it.

Vedas speak Vaishnavism. Sangam literature in tamil considers only Visnu as the Supreme God who can give moksha.

Shaivism does not have a long acharya parampara as Vaishnavism.

so ur belief is wrong.

everything that ive read points to Shaivism being older. can you please provide evidence where it says Vaishnavism is older? Shaivism is shown on many ancient Harappa seals. that in itself goes back much further than the Vaishnav movement. If the split between Aryans and Dravidians is true, then SHavisim being the major religion of most the south indians/dravidians, then it can be assumed that shaivism was the major religion of india b4 the migration. perhaps vaishnavism came with the immigrants.

<<Sangam literature in tamil considers only Visnu as the Supreme God who can give moksha.

as for the sangam literature, that doesnt mean anything. so what they consider vishnu supreme. shiva agams consider shiva supreme. neither means any more or less than the other. it has nothing to do with proving which is older

Shaivism not having a long list of acharyas again doesnt prove anything about age. many the vaishnavs just stuck to the need to elevate one person over the rest more than shavites did. much like modern europe and the institution of the papacy.

these are descriptions of the two religions. it doesnt go to show which is older or younger. you cant tell which is older, birds or mammals, by saying that birds fly and have feathers.
