I happened by this discussion group. I am a high school student. I have read many of the posts with interest. Can someone explain what is the definition of Mayavadi? I am trying to learn Hinduism, although my favorite subject is Astronomy. I belong to the Iyengar community and we worship Tirupati Venkateshvara in our house. Thx.

Relative truths are many, and they are referred to as maya. Transcendent Reality is One, it is THE truth, the substratum from which the 'many' involve and evolve. This whole process is called Krishna Lila or divine sport.

******* Is an entity used to bewilder souls. Through the agency of The False ego. Thats how Maya control us. Maya cannot control out soul proper. The false ego in contact with Maya is being controlled. ***********

Nicely put. I have a question. Please do not answer with your red face.

Is the entity a second beside the Lord?

I asked whether Maya (which you call an entity) is a second entity beside the Lord? Is she separate? Or Is she one with the Lord?

What happens to Maya when Lord help you to get free of Maya?

Ma not Maya. Annapurna. Aditi is all: heaven, earth, gods, all that is born and will be born.

Not knowing this one Aditi and seeing many as true is Maya.

I hope that I am always in her shelter. Is Umapati different from UMA?

Without knowing Uma, Siva camnnot be known. Or possibly Uma is Brahman. Keno Upanishad shows her to be Brahman. Rig Veda also says, Lord is He but is actually a She.

Maha Narayana Upanishad

I-70: The Supreme represented as the ocean has overflown to the whole creation. He has created at first creatures according to the deserts of their various past deeds. He is the ruler of the universe and the munificent giver of gifts to the devotees. He dwells together with Uma in the hearts of devotees which are holier than other parts of their body and therefore superior and elevated like a peak and affording protection. The Jiva who is his abode grows to be infinite. He is the Lord who delights the jiva by guiding according to their deeds and conferring on them fruits of their actions.

Kaivalya Up.

7. Meditating on the highest Lord, allied to Uma, powerful, three-eyed, blue-necked, and tranquil, the holy man reaches Him who is the source of all, the witness of all and is beyond darkness (i.e. Avidya).

Thanks a lot for the citations.

Namaskar Ganesh Prasad Ji

I have a CD "Chants of Shiva" prepared by 'Art of Living' group of Acharya Ravishankar Ji. Bhavani Ashtakam is sung exquisitely beautifully by choir. I wanted english translation of the text.

Ma has sent it through you.

I thought of enquiring something of you:

Why Vinayaka is never subject of controversy?

Hi Sridhar,

Mayavadhis denote people who are against devotion and also tyring to justify the wrong doings scientifically or even misinterpreting vedas.

Suppose if someone says 'Sex is not an obstacle to spiritual life',he is a mayavadhi.Because he is arguing in favour of illusion.

The fact remains the fact Bhagavan is Supreme Lord Vishnu and devotional science is the way to reach his Lotus feet.

All material theories against this is Mayavadha only.
