gokulkr
Introduction Brahmasutras costitute the central text of Vedanta philosophy. The Vedanta doctrines enshrined in Vedas, Upanishads, Gita, Pancha Tantra, Itihasa and Purana are critically summarized in Brahma Sutras. These are also known as VedantaSutras the Sutras that give exposition of Brahman as revealed in Vedas.
gokulkr
The knowledge that arises by a critical study of the entire Vedic Literature. These Sutras enable us to get knowledge and therefore designated as Vedanta Sutras. This indicates that are of source literature of Vedants is not confined to Upanishads only but extends to the entire Veda and the allied literature. Sri Madhvacharya clearly sets the scope of Sastra i.e., Source Literature of Vedanta Philosophy.
Guest guest
OK. Good. Now where can I get a copy? And how does he differ with Shankaracharya and Ramanujacharya?
gokulkr
Vedanta Philosophy is not the teaching of a particular text or texts. It is a tradition flowing from Sruti, Smriti, Panchratra and Itihasa - Purana. The Upanishads, Brahmasutras and Bhagavadgita are generally stated as sources of Vedanta Philosophy. This is only way of compactly stating it. One has to add Rik Prasthana and Itihasa Purana prasthana also to complete it. The Brahmasutras gives an exposition of Vedanta Philosophy from this vast source of Vedanta literature.
