Guest guest
In kamba Ramayanam there are many interesting places. One such place is where when Ram leanrs of his father dasarath's death. In pain Ram breaks this news to Laxman as follows "Laxmana, your father died..." ISnt dasaratha al;so father of Ram?Why did he then call him as "your father" instead of "our father?"Was he angry on Dasaratha for sending Ram to forest? Kambar gives an interesting explanation. It seems that among the four brothers only Laxman missed his father's death. How? Ram had Laxman assuming the role of a father.Full time guarding with complete mental rest and safety. He also had seetha, who did the role of a mother and Ram did not miss his parents. Bharat had Ram as his father. He missed Ram's absence more than Dasaratha's death.Sathrugana had Bharat as his father and mother. So only Laxmana missed a father(He also did not have his wife Urmila near). Kambar also excels when Ram misses seetha and cries in forest.Forgeting his Parabhrammam nature Ram was lost in grief. But when he cremated Jadayu he forgot even his human form and granted moksha to Jadayu.Even in that grief He did not change that nature of him,of saving surrendered ones. And Kambars heart did not accept that ravan touched seetha.Valmigi had written that Ravan pulled seetha and went away. But Kambar wrote that Ravan lifted the hut in which seetha stayed along with the land. Kambar had beaten valmigi.Of all the ramayans kamba ramayan is the best.
Guest guest
I concur with your points absolutely. One more example, at one point when explaining the beauty of lord Rama , kmabar says "oviyathil ezhudha onna " which means whose beauty cannot even be described by a good painting, but later during the scene where viswamitra takes rama to janaka palace to break the siva dhanush kambar says Rama was like a paiting . Why this difference, its becos Rama stood like a statue in front of the sage Viswmitra out of respect , so the posture of rama was like a painting which stands still without a movement . Priya Vaishava one more scene would be where Manthara changes the mind of kaikeyi . Kambar brought out this transformation very well.
