The man who gave a boon to Lord Shiva

Sanath Kumar was the son of Bhramma.He was a bhramma gnani.He had a dream one day.He dreamt of killing asuras.He told it to bhramma.He was surprised.Bhramma gnanis dont kill.For them there is no avathar also.So there was no wqay in which Sanath kumar can kill asuras.But at the same time the dream of a bhramma gnani will never go wrong.So Bhramma couldnt solve the riddle.

 

Sanath kumar saw everything as god.He reached the highest stage of advaitha,where for him everything was same.He saw Lord Shiva in everything.He was in that bhrammanadam for ages.Suddenly Lord Shiva appeared before him.Sanath Kumar was laying on floor.When Shiva came before him with mother Uma,he did not get up,did not pray,did not even acknowledge shivas presence there.

 

Shiva and Uma stood for some time amiling.Then Shiva pretended to be angry.

 

"Oh,Sanath.You have seen us,which is the dream of even the greatest of sages.But why dint you even acknowledge our presence?So far before whom ever we appeared they all worshipped me for hours..."

 

"Did you appear before me now only?" Sanath asked."Then whom was i seeing for all these years ?You were there before me for all these years.So now why this special acknowledge ment?What happened new?Nothing.Before this you were here.even now you are here."

 

Shiva now pretended to be very happy."Oh,Sanath I am happy that I have such a pure devotee.Ask me any boon. i will grant it to you.Ask me anything,its yours"

 

Sanath amiled."Oh,shiva.What can you give me which I dont have?Why dont you do a thing?You ask me anything.I will give it to you.Whatever you ask me, I will give it to you..."

 

Shiva now was very happy that he had such a matured bhrammagnani."O Sanath, then give me this boon.You should be born as my son.Grant me this boon"

 

"Agreed" said sanath."But since you only asked for it adn mother Uma did not ask for it, I will be born to you alone and not to Uma."

 

Uma said "sanath, I was deeply impressed by your devotion and hence lost myself in your argument.But I want you as my son."

 

"I cannot change my boon" said sanath."Its upto you two to decide my birth.But I will never stay in your womb.Thats sure"

 

And so Shiva created Sanath kumar as Lord Karthikeya from his third eye.None could bear that heat.Shiva called agni and gave him karthikeya.But even agni could not bear the heat.He took it adn gave it to mother ganga.But even ganga could not bear that heat.She told agni to drop karthikeya in saravana poigai a small pond.Agni was surprised.'How can a small pond carry such a heat?" he asked.

 

"Do it" said ganaga dn laughed.Agni took karthikeya to saravana poigai adn left him there.He was surprised to see that that pond was comfortable with karthikeya.Then only he learnt the history of the pond.

 

Once Uma missed shiva very much.But she could not find shiva.So she melted in love and her physique turned into saravana poigai.Thats how that pond was created.

 

Thus sanath's boon,uma's wish and shivas wish were satisfied.Sanath's dream also was completed as karthikeya destroyed all asuras.Thus bhramma's riddle also was solved.
