VISHWAKARMA EULOGISES THE SUN GOD

Markandeya says- 'Vishwakarma had married his daughter Sangya to the Sun-god. But being unable to face the unbearable radiance of the Sun, she went to do penance after instructing her shadow to perform the duties of an ideal wife on her behalf. Ultimately, she returned back to her husband only after Vishwakarma had subdued the radiance of the Sun god. Vishwakarma then eulogised the Sun god by saying- I make salutations to the Sun god whose existence is beneficial for the whole universe. I make salutations to one whose own origin remains a mystery and who enables our eyes to see. I make salutations to the Sun god who destroys the darkness and who lightens up the whole world.'

How is our sun so important to the universe?

Or was it that the ancient Indians just didn't know that the sun was solely for our solar system and the universe itself is much bigger than that with many other stars out there, many much larger than the sun?

Just wondering about the depth of the knowledge that the ancient Indians had, and the reason for worshipping the sun so much and giving it more importance than it seems it should have.

there are soo many humans in earth, but we respect/worship our parents only, we dont consider other parents.

so sun gives light to our earth. so we worship sun, without bothering which star gives light to other solar systems.

But if the ancient Indians were so knowledgable about the cosmos, why would they give the sun so much importance to the UNIVERSE? They would have known that the sun is only important to Earth, and not to the universe.

the sun is obviously one of the biggest reasons we exist. but what we percieve when we exist has alot to due with the sun. without the light, we might percieve things differently. perception is the life we live and it impacts alot.

just like every other religion, culture and society, ancient indians placed a heavy emphasis on nature worship (the sun being the biggest aspect of nature). Then theyre major aspect of worship changed from nature to essenses. thats where the essenses of life was worshipped, death was worshipped, prosperity, learning, dharma and all were worshipped. but before that, they placed a more bigger emphasis on nature. alot of ppl had alot less hnuman contact in those days and nature played a major role
