Guest guest
Recently Madonna made an attempt to offer something to Krsna. As imperfect as her offering may have been, it still was a step in the right direction. Her first response from the vaisnava world, as covered by the karmi newspapers worldwide, was that the Vaisnava world was offended by her video. The press release issued world wide cited the World Vaisnava Association as the umbrella group calling for an apology. (see VNN story 2229) Later the vice president of the WVA, His Holiness B.V. Tripurari Maharaja, issued another statement giving Madonna his blessings and stating it was only one organization within the WVA which had organized the campaign asking Madonna to apologize (see VNN story 2239). Unfortunately His Holiness's statement did not get as much coverage as the original one condemning Madonna. Obviously the organization in question cast a bad light on the WVA and Gaudiya Vaisnavas in general. It is my humble opinion that the person or persons responsible for launching the negative campaign against Madonna should apologize to both Madonna and all Vaisnavas worldwide they misrepresented. A statement of apology sent to the press and a private letter sent to Madonna would most likely correct any offense committed. Of course we do not wish to force anyone to do anything against their will but we would like to gives those responsible for this injustice a chance to make it right, therefore an apology is necessary. It is one thing to expect some one like Madonna to apologize for an offense committed in ignorance and something else to humbly ask another Vaisnava or Vaisnavas to correct a wrong. Sincerely, Vaisnava das
