MAHABHARATHA AND SRIMAD BHAGAVATHAM

HI TO ALL,

                   According to mahabharatha king parikshit built a tower & died due to snake bite in the top floor. But srimad bhagavatam says king parikshit died due to snake bite in the forest after listening to Bhagavatham from Sage Suka.
which of these is correct

Shrimad bhagwat is little confusing like some times we confuse who is taking to whom. Parikshit is died on tower after listening to Shrimad bhagwata by Shuka which is already told by Suta in jungle to other Rushis. Devi Bhagwat also stating same thing.
