Horizons
Hello everyone. I have a question about holy basil. I have been taking the 'New Chapter' variety for about a month now to hopefully give me more happiness, clarity, peace of mind ect. However, I heard that Holy Basil is quite 'heating' and I know that when using a Chinese diagnosis method, my body is already quite 'hot,' and I should generally not take herbs that are classed as more 'hot.' For example, ginseng, reishi. I just wanted to know if Holy Basil is in fact heating and whether it would be appropriate to mix the two models of Aurevedic and Chinese to reach the conclusion that I should not consume Holy Basil given my constitution? Because I'm not sure when I read that Holy Basil is heating, whether this tallys up with my TCM diagnosis and 'heat' means the same thing in both models? I would really like to carry on consuming it... Another question I had was whether it is ok to take the herb on a long term basis, or do I have to take breaks? Any other thoughts and experiences with Holy Basil more than welcome... Thanks...
