I have two autistic nephews and two Asperger's nephews, which statistically is probably whacked to begin with. Here's my question. I don't understand why, if mercury in children's vaccines is causing these, why can't we just look at the number of incidences versus when mercury was used, to establish cause or at least correlation? I know partly that it has been under-diagnosed in the past, but even so, why do so many, otherwise intelligent clinicians, continue to say that there is no problem? I don't get it. In the past, they thought it convenient to say that it was all due to genetics. BUT there is no such thing as a genetic epidemic! When California outlawed mercury in vaccines, for the first time, their autism rates fell. I think the next problem is required vaccines for entry into higher levels of schooling and also employment. Follow the money. George Bush Sr sits on the board of Eli Lily (original producer of thimerosal) and in 2002 ((I think), there was a midnight rider slipped into a homeland security bill making it illegal to sue a vaccine company. My wife was telling me that several vaccinations are now be given at birth, which scares me for those infants. She also thinks that some of this may be due to allergic reactions going haywire just because at birth neonates don't really have an immune system, but borrow it from their mums. They recently came out with some kind of " super shot " that included the MMR along with something else! I have been giving Alexandra her shots separately, one at a time. No combo shots. I have insisted on mercury free, going so far as to buy some of them from the pharmacy that the pediatrician doesn't carry. It is costing me a lot of extra $$ but nothing is worth more than giving her every chance to be healthy. It's a scary out there. In the US where I am, it is mandatory that they receive certain vaccines before they can go to school. Recently there was some news story about children that were FORCED to be vaccinated. It's really sad. That's why I am trying to do it as slowly as I can. Especially if you already have some vaccines done, it is easy enough to fill in the rest of the immunization card with dates etc. I did this for my youngest and no one batted an eye. Or homeschool! Which is what we do now. In fact, we unschool which basically means we have just thrown out the whole idea of forced and standardized learning being necessary for a happy life.
