Guest guest
Dear Members , I was sitting alone ...meditating ..a squirrel comes to my house regularly ..i feel love for all beings ..but i didn't like what the squirrel was doing ..that squirrel was making sounds , throwing dust on me ..he/she was disturbing me ..eventually that squirrel jumped on me ...i had this belief " don't hurt any sentinent beings " and of course i was attached to my body ..so i trembled . I wondered why this happened ...and these are my wisdom. 1.) Even though i loved the squirrel ..i didn't like what he/she did ..i should have even loved the disturbance ..spirituality is about accepting negative things ...transcending dualities...as that would make you stronger. 2.) Someway or other ..we hurt beings ..we walk on the road ..who knows..our body might land on an insect entirely ..we aren't aware of this ...so the wisdom here is " Believe in nothing " ..Beliefs are harmful especially while meditating .Some people believe that one should teach or serve only after becoming a complete buddha ..that's untrue ...a half buddha can make many buddhas . When we are at peace within ourself ..we normally do good to the world ..we would never talk for gossip ..we would never hurt any beings ..love gives..it doesn't take. 3.) If peace/bliss is our innate nature ..love merges us ..we are all one being ..so if disturbances occur while meditating ..i feel that it would be because of lack of love ..When there is love for everything ..there is no fear . Fear is absence of love. So i realized that i should love everything. 4.) I trembled because i was attached to my body ...there should be love for everything ..but no attachment. So i should love my body but without any attachment ..i'm not saying that we should not take care of the body ..just because that we are not the body ...but we should take care of it as a worthy vehicle ...No attachment ..i would have slightly moved ..without any tremblig ..just because i was attached and had this belief " never hurt any beings " ..i trembled. When we are thoughtless ..samadhi/wisdom comes. Any criticism / correction will be appreciated. Peace and Love to all, Kousik.

Guest guest
Greetings, It sounds like you had a wonderful experience with your animal friend. What a joy to read of your visitor =) I would also like to offer this tidbit I wrote on Squirrel as far as what is called an " animal totem " - basically animal teachers. " Activity, gathering and preparedness, awareness, sociable, playful, people should do rather than watch, be active in life, are you planning for the future: time, money, energy? Gathering and not giving? It's time to cleanse emotional and mental clutter. Teaches to balance your energy, activate your resources, see from another perspective, balance and power of giving and receiving, aids in discerning when to rest and being active. Are you making time for play? Active enough? Using your voice properly? Are you trying to do too many things at once? Squirrel teaches the balance of activity and play and reorganizing the inner self. " (from my website) When an animal comes to you the way it did it's a good idea to take notice, as you have done in your thoughts and reasons. You know best the lessons...What a blessing! Guest guest
Wow, that squirrel had a lot to say, reading all the neat stuff he got you thinking about! I had a enlightening conversation with some bees one time, years ago. Your squirrel caused me to remember it at a time in my life when its lesson is current and should be given some more thought. I was meditating in the country and a honey bee landed on my hand. I stayed very still and soon I had at least a dozen on my hands and face, just crawling around. This really caused me to start thinking about some things – bees, people and me. People aren't afraid of people, but they're afraid of bees. I'm not afraid bees, but I'm afraid of people. I was grateful and thanked the bees for their blessing. And I'm thanking you for renewing this contemplation. -richard

Guest guest
Always a joy to read your thoughts. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who feels that the world is just one big lesson, even the humble squirrel is our teacher Big hug to you, Love Elektra --- " deepdance1 " <deepdance1 wrote: > dear kousik... i enjoyed your squirrel meditation > story. i really liked the 'half buddha'! > thanks and love, > -steve f > > > > >
