Namaste, everyone

The Maha Shivaratri celebrations at the Puthur Shiva Temple in Perintalmanna

concluded a short while ago with the glorious chanting of Lord Shiva's names.

This year Puthur Shiva brought 5,000 people to the Temple and blessed them. Such

is His compassion.

The day started with a sweet Ganapathy Homam at 5.00 a.m. followed by powerful

Rudha Abhishekham from 5.30 - 8.00 a.m. Seven Namboodris then offered laksha

archanai to Puthur Shiva until 5.00 p.m.

At noon, 5,000 people sat down to eat prasadam blessed by Puthur Shiva.

From 4.30-6.30 p.m. stories of Lord Shiva and Parvati were told and as night was

falling, almost one lakh Aiswarya Deepam were lit. A group of people sang

devotional music in praise of Lord Shiva from 7.00-9.30 p.m.

There was abhishekam for Puthur Shiva throughout the day.

Fourteen people took a holy dip in the Temple tank and with wet clothes offered

Sayana Pradakshina (rolling on the ground). The hunt is on for the remaining

people who signed up for Sayana Pradakshina but chickened out at the last

moment. :-) It is a very hard sadhana but the merits are countless.
