I was so bummed when I realized there are Anchovies in my Caesar dressing!

Ikes.

Well I see there area a couple recipes in the file section for a

Vegetarian/Vegan variety.

Where do I find Nutritional Yeast? And what section of the store would it

be?

The other thing I didn't recognize was " Tahini " .

Anything you can tell me to find these? Thanks.

Nutritional yeast is typically found in the area with vitamins and supplements.

It is a powder and looks similar to ground flax seed.

Tahini is sesame seed butter/paste (so to speak) and should be found near the

peanut butter.

And now I want to give some new dressings a try too!

In my health food store, the nutritional yeast is found in the bulk foods aisle.

Where you can shovel out how much you want into plastic or paper bags. It is

GREAT on top of steamed veggies - it tastes like cheese on top of them. So

YUMMY! Does anyone know the calorie count or nutritional info on it? I'd hate

to be sprinkling it on my food and find out it is 100 calories per tablespoon!

Fantastic! I sprinkle on about a tablespoon or so, and a little salt and

pepper. Makes those steamed veggies so good. In fact, it is near lunchtime,

and I think that is just what I'll have for lunch!

Thanks, Donna!

If you can't find tahini near the peanut butter, look in the Mediterranean

section (if your grocery has one). That's where I usually find it. :)

Here's my Caesar dressing recipe.

No unusual ingredients included.

Alex

Caesar Salad Dressing

4 cloves garlic, peeled

1 T. salt

1 T. sugar

1 tsp. dry mustard

1 tsp. black pepper

1/2 c. fresh or frozen lemon juice (do not use bottled)

1 1/2 c. olive oil

Put garlic into food processor. Mince as finely as possible. Add salt,

sugar, mustard, and pepper, and process briefly. Scrape down sides and

process again. Add lemon juice and process until completely combined.

With machine running, add oil slowly. Makes about 2 c.

I happen to have a package of Bob's Red Mill Nutritional Yeast right

here; it says that a serving of 1/4 cup has 45 calories. I think I can

afford that even on my diet.
