Hi Tyron,

I'm drawn to your statement that,   " meat and sugar can cause bad temper " .

That's very interesting.  I had no idea.  Is that all sugar - white and

brown?

Thanks,

Sandra

Hi,

I don't think I get a bad temper from sugar. I think I might

get a headache either from too much salt or too much sugar

but I have yet to be fully convinced of that. Could be a coincidence

and I'm probably not going to experiment on myself to see if I

can come to any conclusive findings. Still I try not to overdo.

Moderation is usually a good thing anyway.

Yes moderation is the key.

Good thing I eat salt. My BP is so low I'd probably sink away if I didn't put

it on everything, ev en my fruit.

Yes, my BP is always low too. Same with my mother and sister.

Must be a genetic thing, I guess. I've never actually passed

out, that I can recall, but I do feel a little light-head now and

then though. Could be other reasons . . . ;<)

I am sorry but this is one of those things I do not believe is true. My

mother, who was a meat eater, had a normal amount of sugar in her diet all her

life.....she was one of the most even tempered people I have ever known. I had

5 daughters and two sons....all ate meat, and sugar growing up......only one of

my sons is what you would call " hot tempered " and that is due to his father not

to his diet....all of the rest of my kids are even tempered like my mother.

Years ago, when the whole " kids get hyper from eating sugar " thing came

out......I bought into it just like everyone else did.....then I started paying

attention. My kids were not any more or any less hyper after Halloween, a

birthday party, or any other special event where they were eating more candy or

sweets than normal (and what I am saying here is that none of my kids were what

you call " hyper " , they were normal active, fun loving kids that were told to go

play outside when they had excess energy to burn).....and remember, please, that

I have seven children born over 4 decades (from 1965 to 1990) that I have

observed. I also have 13 grandchildren.....12 grandsons and one

granddaughter......when they are all together, sometimes they are like wild

indians and sometimes they all sit and play calmly......I don't think sugar

plays a big part in how they act but I do think not having a balanced diet will

affect behavior to a certain extent.

But to say that eating meat and sugars, of any kind, causes you to have a bad

temper.....come on.....use common sense....have you never known a person who ate

a vegetarian diet to have a bad temper.....or an even temper?.....just like

other people? I have.

This is one concept I will have to pass on because I am 62 years old and have

known many meat eaters and non-meat eaters in my life.......they were ALL normal

people who sometimes got upset but were most of the time even-normal tempered

people. I don't think eating meat or sugar makes a person aggressive in any

way......everyone has a right to their own opinion....this is mine and I am

sticking with it.

Heck, a little bit of sugar improves my mood considerably some days! Same

with caffeine -- but only a little. :)
