This is so simple I hesitate to call it a recipe, but it's a tasty and

pretty way to get started on a cold day!

Rosy Red Oatmeal

1-1/2 cups rolled oats

3 cups water

3-4 tart apples, chopped into chunks

1 10-oz. bag frozen strawberries

1 tablespoon Vietnamese cinnamon

1-/2 to 1 teaspoon nutmeg

2 tablespoons ground flax seeds (optional)

Mix everything except the flax seeds together in a pot. Once water comes

to a boil, cover the pot, and let everything cook for about 15 minutes,

stirring occasionally. Turn off heat, and stir in optional flax seeds if

you like.

Makes 2 huge servings or 3 normal-sized ones

Since I eat oatmeal every morning, this sounds interesting. Is Vietnamese

cinnamon different from ours (US)? That is - should I look for it or just use

what's on my spice shelf?
