green buttercup squash?

Tonight I baked half a beautifully orange buttercup squash

I picked up at my local farmers' market. As I was scooping

out the flesh, I noticed the parts closer to the skin were

green. It was all soft, so I'm quite sure what to make of

it. Is this normal? (BTW, I ate some of the less vibrantly

green flesh, but took the conservative path on the rest

until I hear back from you all.)

Thanks,

Some that I have grown in my garden have had a small bit of green just under the

skin. I cooked them up along with the rest the butternut squash, that was a

nice orange color and they tasted fine.

Re: green buttercup squash?

I asked the farmer about this situation yesterday.

He said it was the pigment from the skin sort of

leaking through and was not unusual. I picked up

a small pumpkin and a butternut squash this time

though instead of the buttercup.
