Guest guest
Hi All! I am going to jump in and give my 2 cents or Pence, I guess I should say, on the Black Eyed Pea/Black Bean topic. I am an American living in the UK, Lancashire England actually, closer to Scotland then London :-) . I transplanted here from Florida five years ago. Black Beans are one of the foods that I miss alot! I have yet to find them canned/tinned in any stores here, and I have looked and asked but they just don't have them. All I can find are the dry ones. I have gone so far as to contact Vigo in Spain to see what is what over here in the UK, and didn't find out what I was hoping for. Black eyed peas just don't cut it when your craving Black Beans. For a quick meal nothing beats the old black bean/rice/diced onions that we used to get in the little Hispanic cafes in Florida with a wonderful chunk of Cuban Bread! Simple food at its finest. Some one in the group did mention to check the Indian Market, which I have never done, but what a great idea! And how I get my Black Bean fix is I import them through friends and family when they come to visit or when I go back for a visit. I am always on the lookout here for them, so if I do locate some I will pass the word on. ~Dee
