Guest guest
Hi Sharie, A cheap trampoline from a sports store works just as well. I have both. The only difference is the cheap one may not last as long. Happy jumping! Blessings, Angela www.celestialrawgoddess.com In reference to the goji berry post, we love them and live on them!! Amazing! Can't wait to try the new ones!

Eating raw, getting enough good fats, will help the cells rebuild. Still, if you are going to take off a lot of weight, or have done so, you will need to do some exercise, also, to help tone the underlying muscles, so as to " hold up " the skin (no that is not a " professional term " - it is my own private term for what is happening and what I need to see happen) I took off 100 lbs. At 50 years old, I already had " wings " , and when I took off the weight, they flapped very nicely, i.e., although the fat under the wings was gone, the skin was still there, hanging. I started doing yoga (at the time, I was not able to do any serious workouts, and my chiropractor told me that I HAD to get exercise, and recommended yoga. !!!!!!! I have no wings!!!!!!!!! The skin on my previously " phat " legs is also pretty well toned (there are wrinkles, which I think come from age - I saw some on Farrah Fawcett's legs!), but there is no skin hanging around all over the place. I am pretty sure that yoga had a lot to do with this, but raw food does have its place. I do, however, have a " sharpei " tummy! (have you ever seen that wrinkly dog?). When I stand up very straight, like they do for " see my muscles " photos, you can see my six-pack --all from yoga-- but when I bend over, or sit, if my tummy is uncovered, you can see my nice empty *folds*, where I used to have the spare tires. With my beautiful size 2-4 physique, I wear a one-piece bathing suit (it suits my age, anyway -- I mean... I *could* wear a bikini, but then I would never be able to sit down!) Actually, this year, I just bought a serious bathing suit for the first time in more than 20 years. It is a one-piece,because of the tummy. Back on topic... A while back, someone on the list, who is into serious serious fasting, suggested that I fast down to 10 lbs less than my target weight, and then the skin would go away. I don't think so. I mean, I *dieted* down to my target weight *and* did exercise, and not all the skin went away. He cited, of all things, Holocaust survivors, who were starved in concentration camps, as examples. I have met Holocaust survivors, and they have plenty of wrinkles and saggy baggy skin. I think that doesn't work, because most people, if they are given the chance to eat, will eat, and will go right back to their former patterns before forced starvation. (if there are, on this list, any Holocaust survivors who, after being liberated from the concentration camp, incorporated starvation fasting into their lifestyle, I would be most interested in hearing from them.) What it boils down to is that, if you have been " filling out " your skin, your skin has been politely accomodating you and stretching. Your skin, however, is more like a pair of nice leather shoes than a pair of cotton Levis, i.e., it will stretch out, but then it will be stretched out, like the shoes, whereas the Levis will stretch out after you wash them, but they will go back to the original " tightness " each time you wash them. > DO you know if a trampolene would work along the same lines as a > rebounder? A rebounder is a " personal " or " mini " trampoline. The advantage of the rebounder is that it will help you remain upright (because you don't have anywhere to fall down), and so you will get a lot of musculo-skeletal exercise in the position that you normally stand, and it will be harder to hurt yourself. (sports stores and discount stores often sell rebounders for around $25-$30 dollars) Another advantage of the rebounder, besides size, is that, if you live in an apartment, it is *slightly* less likely to bother the neighbors who live below you (I've lived under a rebounder-owner -- you do know when they are exercising-- fortunately, my neighbors were lazy). Another option for low impact, easy to do exercise, particularly for older " exercisers " , is an exercise ball, of the kind they use in physical therapy and Pilates. You can sit on the ball to watch TV, or even to answer your email, and it will exercise you as you sit, because of the adjustments your body will need to make to remain upright. Some radio talk-show host, several years back, claimed, on the air, that he had taken off weight just using a ball to sit while he was on the air-- I don't remember who, though. I am currently very very interested in the weight management possibilities of raw food, since (1) I am a nutritionist, (2) I am a hypnotherapist with a weight management practice, (3) I took off most of the 100 lbs. on an " Atkins-style high protein/low starch and sugar " diet (and am hyper-vigilant about keeping it off!! (I have kept off 90 lbs of it for four years, as we speak, and I intend to get that nasty 10 lbs back off post haste!) As a person who was on an Atkins-style diet and was successful, and, as an educated nutritionist, I am very interested in seeing how a " lower protein " diet will work for me (the " starches " tend to disappear if you are on a raw diet, but, as I have seen on this list, people find all sorts of ways to add in sugars). I am a " sugar-phobe " . *Add* anything that looks like any kind of sweetener, and I am out of there. Don't get me wrong... I will put bananas through my Champion and have very sweet ice cream! I just won't add any kind of syrups, etc. to my food to make it sweet! If it is *food*, and it will sweeten my " recipe " , *and* give me nutritional benefit, then I will eat it; i.e. my dessert has to be part of my meal! I to the idea that *anything* that goes into my mouth and will ultimately arrive in my stomach is food and I am *eating* -- chewing gum, grapes, Thai tamarind candy, LifeSavers.... *anything*. So many people manage to separate out different (non-speaking) mouth activities and forget them (yes, protein, duh! okay, raw.) If you put something into your mouth and swallow it, it is going to go to your stomach and be processed as food. Chew gum? You will be swallowing saliva, and whatever is in the gum will go to your stomach, and henceforth to the rest of your body. Eat a LifeSaver? (10 calories and mostly SUGAR!!!!)-- whatever is in it will go to your stomach and follow the path of all food. Words? I am not sure, but I *do* know that angry words do go to your stomach and follow your digestive system and spread throughout your entire body (okay, I am a hypotherapist, stress management consultant, and a Reiki Master). I hope this helps. (my students usually say I " over-help " ) If you have questions, please feel free to ask. Weight management questions would fit to the group. How does hypnotherapy work/help, might fit. Reiki should probably be addressed privately. Margaret
