Wardens at the Patna Zoo are scrambling to help the animals to keep their cool. ''We are giving glucose in the drinking water whenever it is too hot. We have also provided coolers inside the night house,'' said Subhash Chandra Verma, Deputy Director, Patna Zoo. Also at hand are sprinklers in the animal sheds and pools within the enclosures with a regular supply of fresh water. However, there may be some respite soon with the meteorological department predicting an early monsoon. Patna is witnessing a scorching heat, but for big teddy here he sure knows how to make the heat bearable, as he is having a shower and even the tiger in the next enclosure has had a kingly dip.
