Guest guest
I totally understand your frustration. Some months we have to cancel due to lack of response. It just isn't worth it for our family to clean up the house (OMG!) or tie up a Sat. night if only a couple of people are coming. That's why I have everyone RSVP to me via e-mail and then I let those that have contacted me know if we are on or not. I have to say I have very limited time to promote our events. But in the months when I get to hang up flyers at the local health food stores, library, etc. we do get increased interest. Then I ask those who come to post flyers as well. Additionally, people don't want to commit which is VERY frustrating. But we have made some nice acquaintances, is good for the kids to meet other kids when they come and we think it is an important way to help promote our lifestyle choice. As my kids get older I hope they will bring their friends. Maybe take a break for a while and then try again. I also post to a natural parenting web group I am part of, and just began (haven't been to the first meeting yet) in a group called " Menu for the Future " . There are so many places to try to reach more people. Seventh Day Adventist churches, pet stores, animal rights groups, chiropractors . . . so many places to try to reach people. There are definitely more vegetarians out there - - Daytona is pretty big . . .guess they are hiding! You did the right things - - guest just keep plugging if you want. I know it is hard. We also have hosted a Pre-Thanksgiving Vegan Potluck that was also fun. Best of luck to you. Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Sorry for the late notice but we are hoping you are planning to come Sat. May 2nd. We are doing it from 7:00 - 9:00 PM, this time due to a baseball game (do you see a trend here -we are truly slaves to our boy's sports!). Please bring a vegan dish to share (store bought is fine) for the number in your party plus 8. Invite friends and the merely curious. Kids welcome! Please RSVP via e-mail. There will be iced tea and filtered water to drink. It's great if you can bring your own reusable picnic-ware and feel free to wash up here - - instead of making so much waste for the landfill or we will have basic table service available (for a small fee). If we don't receive more then 6 responses by Friday then we will cancel the gathering. kellydriscoll
I am nurse, vegan and health/skin care consultant. I often host vegan parties in Ellicott City if anyone is interested in attending. It's a blast! It's a nice avenue to spread the word about the health benefits of a vegan diet and overall lifestyle to those that are exploring the diet or simply like to socialize with others that share this value. Most people don't realize, for example, that most hair care, skin care, etc contain animal by-products and mineral oil and that these ingredients are absorbed into you body and therefore your organs. So gross! Especially, women who on average put 515 chemicals on their body and hair on any given day. Research is now associating this with diseases more prevalent in women, such as auto-immune disorders. It feels great knowing that I am living a lifestyle that is vegan and healthy inside and out. Feel free to email me if you are interested in joining a discussion or attending a party! Always love to meet new people and share great food and health tips!
