Guest guest
Hi, Beth. God bless you for your efforts in healing your son. Have you considered food allergies? I know of a case where a woman cured her sons autism by having food allergy testing done, and eliminating wheat, soy, eggs and dairy. I will try to find the link to the article for you. Keep in mind that wheat and soy ingredients are routinely added to commercial meats as " enhancers " . Brenda
Guest guest
I have a friend who has had remarkable results by eliminating gluten and dairy from her son's diet. Your son likely has malabsorption in his intestines caused by Celiac's disease. Studies have shown that most children with autism excrete proteins in their urine that can be indicative of this condition. My ex-husband has Celiac's (which I personally believe many autistic people have) and had seizures for years. So, I did tons of reasearch about seizures and found there is a large crossover between seizures and autism. I found they were likely caused by Celiac's. His doctor thought we were crazy, but gave him a camera test and it showed that he did have Celiac's. He stopped eating gluten and dairy and now eats mainly raw and does fine on a very minimum of medication. He has been seizure-free for almost a year. Maybe you have already eliminated gluten. I have seen people do it, but when they aren't super careful, they don't get better. That is because gluten is everywhere and even the slightest bits can cause the intestinal inflammation that prohibits absorbing nutrients. It takes the intestines at about six months after ingesting gluten to heal again. The reason I also say dairy-free diet is because dairy contains molecules that are very similar to that of wheat. Dairy intolerance was also a problem for the two autistic children I know and my ex-husband. The autism society also recommends this diet. This is a useful page by on their website. http://www.autism-society.org/site/PageServer? pagename=about_treatment_biomedical#Dietary If you are interested in getting my friend's e-mail, please e-mail me offline and I will send it to you. Or if I can help you in any other way, let me know. Take care, Laura rawfood , " berrywell " <berrywell wrote: > > Hi, Beth. God bless you for your efforts in healing your son. Guest guest
Thanks Laura for responding. My son is already on a gluten-free, casein-free diet. He has been for 6 years, although we have taken him off at times to see if there is really any difference or if we are traveling. We have observed that he does eventually go downhill after some time from being off his diet and is eating SAD. However, we don't notice any difference even a week after eating wheat and dairy. I actually am thinking the candida is the issue and he gets that from junk food and sugar when he goes off of his diet. He is so happy to be off the diet, that he wants to binge and have all the things that have been denied him. Thanks, Beth
