Guest guest Posted January 2, 2003 Report Share Posted January 2, 2003 * Exported from MasterCook * Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage Recipe By :Transalta Utilities Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : send vegetables Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1/3 cup water 1 pound red cabbage--shredded 1 large apple--peeled--cored and sliced very thin 2 tablespoons brown sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt pepper to taste 2 tablespoons vinegar 1 tablespoon butter--melted Bring water to a boil in a large saucepan. Add cabbage, cover and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add apples and simmer, covered, 7 to 10 minutes, or until apples are tender. Stir occasionally. In a small bowl, blend together brown sugar and flour. Stir in salt, pepper, vinegar and butter. Stir into cabbage, bring to a boil and serve immediately.
