Ideas for using veat?

Boy, could I sing you the praises of Veat! It's one of my favorite products.

It's got a real chicken-like flavor and texture (at least how I remember chicken

after all these years!). It cuts up well, although get close to the size you

want with the breast, nuggets and bites. I've cut the bites into smaller pieces

for my stir-fries, as we like the browned smaller pieces.

 

Here's some of the ways I've used it.

 

Breast: Just saute with a bit of oil to nicely brown and crisp it. Serve with

BBQ sauce or honey mustard and a baked potato.

 

Bites: Use for " chicken " and noodles. I use about 12 oz. dry noodles, 2 packages

of Veat and 2 packages of veggie chicken gravy. Cook noodles, drain. Make gravy

according to directions; when it thickens up add a little extra water to get a

consistency you like. Add Veat and heat gently. Add noodles. For a real gourmet

dish, add a can or two of sliced mushrooms and a can of cut up artichoke hearts.

 

I've also used the bites in my stir-fry dishes. I have an old Szechwan chicken

recipe from my " previous " life (as a meat-eater....grin!) that my son and I just

loved. For whatever the reason, I kept that for over 16 years, finally

resurrected it last year to use with the Veat. It's now become one of our

five-star dinners.

 

Nuggets: I used these last summer, along with a bunch of cut-up (marinated)

veggies for a wonderful summertime shish-ke-bob.

 

This weekend I think I'm going to make a pot of (veggie) " chicken " soup. I've

been meaning to add a pack or two of Veat bites.

 

I think it's just a wonderful product with so many different uses.

One night I sliced nuggets into smaller pieces, browned it a little, and made

a strogranoff, mmmm.

 

My husbands favorite use was in tacos, so yes, it does cut up into smaller

pieces and keep its texture.

 

I have usually tried to not use the convenience foods but I am having some bad

back problems and have discovered the joys of freezer to microwave.

 

Another product we discovered and love is " Riblets " , made by Gardenburger.

They were great. My husband isn't really a veggie, just an opportunistic

eater(plus a great cook), eats whatever is in front of him, if it's good. He

loves our tofu, and boca burgers, and Veat. The main reason he likes the

veggie food is that it is so convenient to cook with.
