Guest guest Posted July 24, 2002 Report Share Posted July 24, 2002 * Exported from MasterCook * Vegetable Gluten (Meat Substitute) Recipe By : Serving Size : 0 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1/2 bell pepper 1 small onion 5 garlic cloves 3/4 cup soy sauce -- liquid aminos or tamari (3/4 to 1) 1 big carrot 2 T chicken style seasoning 1/4 t oregano enough water to make 2 1/2 cups 3 cups gluten flour 1 cup nut meal (pecan, walnut, or sunflower) 1 t garlic powder 1 t onion powder Blend first 7 ingredients in the blender. -- put gluten flour, nut meal, garlic powder and onion powder and mix well. Then add the liquid and stir until all is moist and a doughy consistency. Make into balls the size of a small orange and put in sandwich baggies. It's a good idea to double bag them. Drop into boiling water and boil for an hour and 15 min. May want to stir once in awhile. After they are done cooking you can slice, chop, mince or do anything you want and use it as any kind of meat. It can be fried, baked or stir fried lightly. Sounds difficult to make, but really is extremely easy and delicious! Add enough water to total 2 1/2 cups of liquid.
