Guest guest Posted May 21, 2002 Report Share Posted May 21, 2002 * Exported from MasterCook * Cold Weather Soup with Limas, Cabbage and Root Vegetables Recipe By :Kitty and Lucian Maynard © 1989 Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Soups Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 6 cups water 6 each reduced-sodium chicken-style bouillon cubes 2 medium carrots -- pared and diced 1 large potato -- pared and diced 1 cup shredded cabbage 2 medium celery ribs -- chopped 1 medium onion -- chopped 1 small white turnip -- chopped 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg 1/8 teaspoon pepper 1/4 cup dry white wine Bring water and bouillon cubes to a boil in a 3 quart saucepot. Add carrots, lima beans, potato, cabbage, celery, onion, turnip, nutmeg and pepper. Return to a boil, lower the temperature to a simmer, and add the wine. Simmer until the vegetables are tender, about 25 minutes.
