Here, a simple new recipe starts with hummus. Toasty walnut hummus is a variation on the Mediterranean-style favorite often used as a dip with pita bread, or fresh-cut vegetables. It blends the standard chickpeas and garlic with toasted walnuts and walnut oil, flavored with the gentle tang of orange juice and zest. You also can use the hummus, spread on bread, in sandwiches; or serve it with tabbouleh salad and grilled or roasted vegetables, for a vegetarian meal. It contains no saturated fat or cholesterol.
