Caraway Bread Sticks (United States)

1 pound loaf rye bread -- (1 to 1 1/2 lbs)

unsliced Jewish rye bread with caraway seeds or marble

rye

2 tablespoons garlic-infused olive oil

 

PREHEAT OVEN to 350 degrees. Cut bread in half crosswise. With long serrated

knife, cut each half lengthwise into 1/2 inch slices. Cut each slice crosswise

into 1/2-inch slices, forming sticks about 3 inches long.

 

Transfer sticks to ungreased cookie sheets; brush lightly with half of oil.

Turn; brush with remaining oil. Bake until crisp, about 15 to 18 minutes. Serve

warm or at room temperature. Makes about 4 dozen sticks.

 

HELPFUL HINT: Baked bread sticks can be frozen up to 1 month before serving. To

reheat, bake in 350-degree oven until hot, about 5 to 10 minutes.
