Philly Cheese " Steak " Sandwich

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1 cup chunky beef-style TVP

1 2/3 cups water

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 small onion -- cut into thin crescents (or 1/2 large onion)

1 small green pepper -- seeded & thinly sliced

1 tablespoon vegan Worcestershire sauce

2 large hoagie rolls

mayonnaise

shredded Swiss or mild white Cheddar

cheese

red or green leaf lettuce

1/2 medium ripe tomato -- sliced

 

Combine TVP and water in saucepan and bring to a boil; set aside.

 

In a heavy skillet, heat olive oil. Add onion and pepper and saute until soft.

Drain TVP and add to vegetables with Worcestershire sauce. Saute briefly until

vegetables are well done and TVP slightly browned. Serve warm on a hoagie roll

with mayonnaise, shredded cheese, lettuce, and tomato.
